  1. Saw someone in a kayak today fishing in Tonka. It appears the lake is now open from 54 bridge (Vatters Edge) to the Tonka cove. I'm betting it's full of hungry fish although you may have to deal with the Piranas.
  2. 11 point has the most craws but they're small. Made a meal of them a few times. I hear the Table Rock craws are big and easy but ain't seen a bucket yet.
  3. Anyone from Lake Killarney on the boards. A place close to my heart. Curious about floating to the St Francis.
  4. I like that area. 72 east out of Ironton, Stouts Creek, St Francis river and Silver Mines. In the day the record Walleyes were caught there. Some really neat CCA or WPA granite fences along the road.
  5. I hear LOZ will drop another foot by next week, which will be about 1 1/2' below normal low pool. https://www.lakenewsonline.com/story/news/2021/02/18/lake-level-reach-unheard-lows-ameren-fights-against-high-energy-use/4501999001/?fbclid=IwAR3SlKnSMGl0hg6v15_JH6_pTjD8ycUPPHpn2su1li9OdhVOHtbxnoFd3eI
  6. I spent several years living in south St Louis and it was a mess when we had a large snow. Almost everyone had to park on the street so if the plows did come thru all the cars would get buried. You would have to move the snow around the cars to the curb just to get out. Then when you got back home someone would have that spot. The areas that didn't get shoveled would turn to solid sheet ice and sometimes last for months.

    Rod repair

I'm in Camdenton and as rps says it's simple. If you source the correct guide and thread colors it can be a perfect match.
  8. I'm afraid this cold snap will freeze up LOZ and alot of other area lakes and all ponds. Ramps are already a PIA from ice.
  9. 20# for me on LOZ. Terkel crankbait.
  10. I'm not familiar with the Ultrex, but any other Minnkota you can remove the head and cut the shaft to whatever you like.
  11. If you use facebook post on the Lake Ozarks Bass and Crappie groups. They seem to have alot of activity.

    What's Cooking?

    This one.
  13. 10 bucks per event or total?
  14. Congrats guys. Wish I would have had an invite. Great group.
  15. I kinda just ignored the deal, wearing my mask when required and limiting contacts when it's convenient. I know statistically our chances are slim of even contracting the illness and even smaller to die. Then last week one of my best friends passed of the Covid. I'm still trying to rethink the situation.
  16. I've become a fan of Shimano Calcuttas. Of my collection of nice reels the Calcuttas get the most use. I do have large hands and don't mind a round reel.
  17. We can fish some time. I probably won't be river fishing till late Feb. or early March though. I live across from Tonka Cove and typically run upstream from there. If the river is flowing well I've made it to the pool below Lake Niangua dam.
  18. I've got a Mercury Jet 20 on my 16' Jon, it handles the Niangua well. My buddy Greasy has one on his 20' Trout boat, it moves along just fine.
  19. I'd go with the Tatula CT Snagged linked to. A good price for a nice reel. I've used one for a couple years and it's my favorite rig. The SV is supposed to be better for control and light lures but the regular CT works fine for me.
  20. My home waters would have to be the Meramec around the Onondaga area. My great Grandfather lived a few miles from the cave on Possum Hollow Rd, and we had many other relatives in the area. An uncle owned Keyes Canoe rental for a bit, it eventually morphed into Ozark Outdoors. I don't get down that way much anymore since it's turned into a coconut oil circus.
  21. A view of one of the swinging bridges by Brumley. The second is a mad bass, you have to zoom in and look a his eyes.
  22. Good game, Mizzou wins. Not to sure about some of the refs calls. Too many fouls messed up the flow of the game. The flagrant call at the end was questionable also and ended any chance the Ill had.
  23. RIP Charlie Pride. You will be missed.
  24. Not north shore but south end. Fished in Tonka cove couple hours this afternoon. One fish, a nice fat 18" smallie. Very dark coloration kinda like a northern SM. Forgot my phone so no pic. Met another boat that was leaving when I went in, they said several shorts on crankbaits with no keepers. I caught mine on a 3" tube.
