read an interesting article on the Razorbacks today. Writer claims that this group of hogs does want to be there! They got rid of the portel guys and the draft guys and that these new young guys are eager to show what they can do. Should be a fun game. I agree with Quill that these bowl games are meaningless. I've watched one bowl game. My Tigers v Wake Forest. Tigers top 3 D linemen had opted out so Wake Forest qb had a field day. And Drinkschlitz offense continues to be a joke. Everything is sideline to sideline. jet sweeps, quick passes out to the wr's. I thought this guy was supposed to be an offensive guru? he can recruit but i really question his game day skills. Go Tigers v Kentucky! And used car salesman Calipari. Tigers are not as bad as they played v ku but not as good as they played v Illini. Be interesting. At least Gates has a team that is fun to watch again.

Champ you remind me of John Dutton on Yellowstone. He is fighting his butt off to keep Montana the way it has always been. Fighting to keep airports being built to bring in thousands to ski resorts they want to build. Fighting to keep Montana from becoming a playground to millions of visitors. It is a never ending battle for the guy. Hang in there Champ!! Keep battling for Table Rock lake! Wake boats are damaging docks, causing erosion and clouding up the water. Endless numbers of tournaments with bass being hauled around in livewells during the spawn. I dont blame you local boys for not being very thrilled about all the changes you are seeing. Not sure what you can do. Some say change is inevitable. Just know you locals got some support from us guys up north.

I agree Bill. I know i am in the minority but paying these college kids was appalling to me. Most of these college athletes at the D1 level will never have it as good as they do while in college. Free tuition, free books, free lodging, free food 24/7. Fly all over the world in first class airfare and stay in the best hotels. That all ends when they leave. Now we want to pay them? The major argument was how much money these kids made for the ncaa. I really dont care. We already have professional leagues. You want to make money? Dont go to college. Go pro! A Texas A&M booster gave every offensive lineman 50 grand to come to A&M. How does MU compete with that? In the end the rich will get richer.

Bill I didnt hear what the Ark journalist said about MU. That being said athletes will use bulletin board material. I'm still not sold on Drinkwitz. He can recruit! He just comes off as kind of a goofball to me. And he comes in as this offensive guru from App St but his offense looks like a middle school to me. They did up winning 6 games with Auburn loss a joke and had Kentucky beat too. 8-4 would have been a highly successful season. I agree Quill. Ark basketball is a beast. How does this guy get those long and athletic guys? My Tigers are 7-0 but they havent played anybody. At least they are scoring some pts. Shooting percentages and especially 3 pt shooting percentages are way up. They may at least be watchable. That offense the last few years was unwatchable. Hope you boys had a great Thanksgiving.

Not hearing much from you Hog followers this year!! Good game. Entertaining. I figured MU would eventually MU. Maybe a pass interference call, a controversial one at that, and Ark would kick a 50 yd field goal with no time left for the win. After Drink went for two up 5 and didnt get it. I'm hearing MU v KU in a minor bowl??

Congrats Bill! What a beautiful view. Some things you just cant put a price tag on.

Not a Table Rock Report! - Sturgeon Bay, WI Smallmouth
Smithvillesteve replied to 196champ's topic in Table Rock Lake
Looks like the water is not too rough and looks like you are relatively close to shore. I've heard it can get really bad there. You cant even fish. Catching 5 to 6 lb smallies would be unbelievable fun. Congrats on two days of excellent hunting and fishing. -
Nice buck Bill!! Its great that you are able to use the turkey legs for your noodles. I tried one time and it just didnt work out.

Wood ducks are so beautiful. Would love to harvest one to mount.

MDC reports that hunters harvested 1800 turkeys during the fall season. Up a couple hundred from last year. Most of the top counties are down south. In my humble opinion i wish the MDC would get rid of the fall season. Its a fact that turkey numbers are down. A lot of the harvested numbers in the fall are hens. Why not save those hens? Just one guys opinion.

I guess they had some big crappie tournament down there recently. A Wally Marshall deal. Not sure why they chose TR but supposedly Marshall wanted it there to test their abilities. Havent heard any results.

Love the fact that it is catch, WEIGH, and release!!

I certainly dont disagree with you boys about the population of predators increasing dramatically. But MDC will tell you that loss of habitat is number one. You just dont see any crp fields anymore and that was so beneficial to turkeys, quail and pheasants. Farmers also started tearing out ditches, fencelines, draws etc in order to get more rows of crops. There use to be quite a bit of timber here around the Smithville area and into nkc area. See a lot of deer and turkeys on my way to Walleyworld. Now they are replaced by apartment complexes and the like. Just sayin boys.

Thanks boys. Always appreciate the advice and info you guys provide. I will do a little research on the products you recommended. Once again, thank you.

Buddy of mine was fishing with my St Croix Mo Jo bass rod the other day. It broke about a foot down from the tip. He was hung up but wasnt doing anything unusual to make it break in my opinion. That is the second one of those that has broke in the exact same spot. The good news is that St Croix has a pretty good warranty system. Send them a pic of the break and they ship me a new rod. I think it is 25 dollars. I'm thinking about going to a new setup. I would like to stay in the 150-200 dollar range. I'm looking at: 1) Staying with the St Croix but upgrading to the Avid series. I've heard good things about the Avids 2) The Falcon Bucoo series. I know Bill and some of you other boys like the Falcons Any advice from you boys would be appreciated.

I've been to Mille Lacs the last two years. In september. The good thing about Mille Lacs is you can always plan your fishing sessions according to the wind. The lake is a big bowl. The thing is a 10-15 mph wind on that lake can whip up some serious whitecaps. But you can check the wind and find a launch in the appropriate area that is protected and fish that area. We never did venture out to the middle where the big boulders are. Where the pros are catching 6-7 lbers. 2 years ago my buddies boat had some issues and last year we just didnt feel the need to do it. My buddy caught a beautiful 4lber and i have caught a few 2-3 lbers. If you want to stay relatively close to home this is a nice place to go.
