    What's Cooking?

Did a Shakshuka style eggs this morning which I added potatoes. I made a spice blend of dark chili powder, smoked paprika, and old bay. I cooked and softened a small yellow onion in olive oil, then added three cloves of garlic, two teaspoons of the spice mix, 1/2 cup of chicken stock, a can of diced roasted tomatoes and a cup of tomato sauce. Cooked about 10 minutes then blended smooth. Added two cups of diced russet potatoes in the pan and a teaspoon of the spice mix. Cooked until slightly golden. Added the sauce back into the pan then added a cup of sliced artichoke and about two cups of swiss chard. Cooked for about 5 mins. I made a few depressions in the sauce and cracked in an egg into each depression, sprinkled about 1/3 cup of feta cheese, and cooked while covered until the whites were set. Served with toasted crusty bread.
  2. Try looking at the Olympus stylus Tough. I've had a lot of success with an older version. Water proof/resistant and shock proof. Dropped ours many times and used it underwater.
  3. Congrats on a decent trout! Thanks for posting! Now if we could get you guys to use a camera😌.
  4. We thank you!
  5. Agree with BH. Too many folks undervalue the price that freedom in this country requires. I appreciate all those that have served and possibly fought for those freedoms! Thanks!
  6. Wish that I could go. Sounds like a possible great time in the making.
  7. Great shooting @BilletHead! Awesome gifting by @fishinwrench! Looks like a great time. I have to get into this air rifle shooting.
  8. Awesome! Congrats on setting up your successful duck blind !
  9. @Seth congrats of scoring some Missouri groceries! that is a great looking buck as well as an awesome livewell of crappie!
  10. I count every fish on a trip no matter the size or species.
  11. I calculate cost per fish only based upon license fees and stamps (trout park day passes, etc.). I do not include bait, tackle, boat fees, etc. just too depressing. So for MO - $0.08 per fish Maryland - $0.29 Virginia - $0.65 Tennessee - $5.05 Iowa - $6.73 Illinois - $17.50 (did not even fish during the three day license period ). Ohio - $19.50 - only one brown trout caught
  12. I can't lie but I am a numbers guy. I track the number of each species caught and how many I caught on each bait. At least I try to be as accurate as possible. I would have to have four or five clickers. Instead I go through the list with each catch in my head then dump that into a spreadsheet😌. Someone once told me that I need a hobby when I showed then my fishing spreadsheets. I told them that this was my hobby 😁!
  13. That's a whole night of fun right there😁.
  14. Neons are partial to #26 hooks tied like a red zebra midge😁.
  15. That's an awesome striper. Congrats Dan!
  16. Listened to the Alice's Restaurant in four part harmony on our way back to Maryland . I laugh every time I listened to this song. My cousins and I used to listen to it when we got together on Thanksgiving. that song and Loudon Wainwright III "Dead Skunk" song were big hits when we were younger.
  17. Looks like a great time. You guys were hammering thise whites. Congrats!
  18. Another awesome trip buddy! Congrats on figuring out those green fish!
  19. That's an awesome wood duck drake buddy! That one would likely cost me $500+ because i would have to have it mounted. Congrats to you and the Mrs. on a couple successful hunts. Jealous here in Maryland.
  20. Oct through April was always when I would fish the Current river often well below Montauk looking for brown trout. Closer to my house than Bennett's or Roaring River and better fishing than could be had outside of Meramec Springs. I would prefer Weds. Often on a Weds in Feb I would have a three or four mile stretch of the river to myself !
  21. Congrats on a fine meal of teal!
  22. Congrats to you and Bret! Sounds like a great time. Report needed some photos... just saying .
  23. Congrats QB! I missed out on a chance for some big stripers here in MD. Next year need to find a boat. That spotted bass sure had the big eyes on when it hit that top water.
  24. Bret glad that you could finally get out and fish some. Nice smallies buddy! Would love to fish with you some on the White during Jigfest.
  25. Very nice day out in my opinion. Congrats buddy!
