They celebrate the muskrat out here in MD. Have festivals with muskrat dishes and skinning contests. it's a big deal, but when you are completely surrounded by as much wetlands like there are here, you are going to see a lot of those guys. Also have some beaver and otters. Have a lot of red fox.
I only lived in MO for 20 yrs and never tried to give a license for Xmas but the dates of coverage Mar 1 to Feb 28 had not changed that entire time. So you either plan for it by buying a 2020 license before hand or pay just to have the license in Jan and Feb. Even at $29 it's cheap. Drop the hunting part and it's cheaper still.
Ok a fuzzy photo but a backyard squirrel on our feeder. Looks like a plush toy. I hope ots a pregnant female. If not it needs to lay off the nuts and corn 😄
Since getting on INaturalist, cleaned up a few questionable species and dropped last years total species, ended dropping one questionable species and dropped to 82 species. So your 83 has got me by one buddy!!
I've been here over 2 yrs and have not caught a smallmouth bass in Maryland. A lot of that is me chasing new species. However the smallie fishing from what folks that catch them here describe is not as good as in MO. I have smallies shy from baits when I have actually fished for them. Miss those ozark creeks and streams.
