  1. Great report and photos! Congrats to you both! If she doesn't do this already have her watch Phil put on a clinic on backreeling decent trout with 2# line. I've lost less fish by backreeling instead relying on the drag only. Hope you catch a bunch this fall.
  2. Nice looking boat Daryk. Glad that you guys are getting it out on the water. Should be fun for a long time. Looking forward to many more trip reports😁.
  3. Glad that you are able to get back out creek fishing. It's also one of my favorite places to fish as well. Your grandson looks proud of his fly caught fish. Congrats to you both! Just watch out he may become a microfisherman😁.
  4. Not a gallon jar full but a bag of dehydrated cherry tomatoes. Tasty little guys😁.
  5. I would be interested in what the fine totals were for their violations. Typically wildlife fines are way less than you would expect.
  6. Ok it was a gratuitous rant just to get this thread over the 6 page mark !
  7. @snagged in outlet 3 you're welcome!
  8. Ness you only added the last sentence to "stay on topic" and not a gratuituos attempt to push this post to 6 pages. Not sure what donuts have to do with a streamer fly rod. Except that you can use the butt section to hold the donuts😁! But you can't do that with long johns or bavarian cream donuts. It would be too messy. Apple fritters wouldn't work either. Bagels could hang on the butt end. Might throw off the balance of the rod and cause undo fatigue while casting and stripping streamers. I use my 7 wt but don't fish streamers that often.
  9. Sounds like you should stop fishing with Kevin😁! Or stay away from those dykes!
  10. When I was a freshman we had a guy that bought 7 oz beers so that the beer would still be cold when he got to the bottom of the bottle. Now that guy had a drinking problem😂! I don't ever recall having warm beer even when drinking 16 or 24 oz beers😌.
  11. Congrats QB! Have never been drop shotting for bass. Just don't get out on lakes in a boat. Love reading the posts.
  12. Livie harvested one of her canteloupes. Small but tasty little treat 😁! A bit smaller than a pool ball. The deer or a squirrel ate the larger melon.
  13. @BilletHead those are great restorations. Haven't taken the time yet to work on my old cast iron. I haven't found a griddle at the price range that I am willing to pay especially one that needs restoration work. Did see a waffle iron that I really liked but didn't pull the trigger.
  14. That is a absolute toad of a rainbow from a creek that isn't stocked!
  15. Great days indeed Dan! Could not ask for better -- great fish and company! Congrats again buddy!
  16. Armadillos have been expanding their range northward. Been seeing them in Columbia over the last five to ten years or so. So I doubt they are moving to avoid noise by heading in the suburbs😁.
  17. Everything that I have seen is that the horned pout is a brown bullhead, Amerius nebulosus.
  18. After the glaciers receded😀.
  19. At least a couple of posts are missing.
  20. She definitely put a new meaning on "the man with the gun of the hand😜!"
  21. Our harvest over yesterday and today😌. Pretty modest pickings bit tasty!
  22. Maybe it was the size of the lake. Back in Missouri I would catch yellow bullheads in a local lake and it also has decent channel and blue catfishing as well.
  23. Almost every Friday for over 5 years my wife and Livie would go with a friend and her daughter to the Amish community in Sturgeon MO north of Columbia. Her friend is allergic to almost everything that you can think of and many other things that she is still finding out that she is allergic. She has gone up there for over 10 years. They would buy produce, baked goods, etc. We even owned a cow every other Friday to get its raw milk. Since they are not legally able to sell raw milk, we paid for all of the cow's feed etc and in exchange we got all milk produced that day. Over those years they became good friends with several families. In our experience the Amish are very private people that some do somewhat resent the English attitudes towards them. Once they know you they are very friendly and accepting. For well over a year there were many folks that thought that my wife and friend were a cute lesbian couple😌. We did like the good produce at really good prices and much better deals on common vegetables than the overpriced farmer's market produce. It did get to the point where we were being asked what we would like them to plant the next year.
  24. You have to love minor league team names. In grad school, I loved going to Scranton Wilkes-Barre Red Barons games in PA. My dad used to go to the Savannah Sand Gnat games down in Georgia. Going to those games may put a new meaning to shagging flies !
