  1. Hopefully after this weekend the fisher people will get the lakes back to a degree. I try to fish from 3 or 4am til 9am.
  2. Nice wording rps. I have those days and just shake my head, especially on TR.
  3. Good info in this thread. Im not much of a dock spooner, but have done some off and on with enough success to keep me trying now and then. I try to stay away from the shallower 1/3 where most cables and junk are. Good luck
  4. Theres a few threads on here about their baits and rods, but havent seen much on their reels. I use their hard baits with as good of success as any other hard baits i have. An earlier thread about their rods had good info. I went with the intention of buying a few of their rods, but ended up with a Lews and a Shimano instead. They looked like nice rods, so im sure their upper end reels with hold up. Let us know after youve put it to good use.
  5. pretty descriptive article. Theres a Big Bass Bash coming up the first of Oct. if anyone is wanting to try their luck.
  6. another good day out it sounds like. Try jigging the bridge supports also during mid-day.
  7. I wondered the same thing, hence why i clicked on the thread, thinking i was gonna see this cool new OA cooler bag..Oh well, gives Phil a new idea. Nice bag Ham.
  8. I use rattle jigs 50% of the time, and catch fish 50% of the time i use them. Did that make sense? Sure
  9. Great post. Yes the dog work has always been the reason i hunt birds. Good picture and report. Stick with it,the dog will enjoy the outings.
  10. Any chance the "spitting" action will slow down, or cease the walking action? The walk of a bait comes from the gliding side to side, and with the spit, my thinking is it will hamper the side to side movement. Good looking bait tho.
  11. These cooler mornings wil help with water temps and oxygen levels. Its been a rough year for fishermen, but moreso for the fish. It startd early in the year, pre-spawn when they were caught off guard, by high water temps, and cold fronts. It should start getting good soon.
  12. Do you have more info on why you made that statement? Or are you just being sarcastic towards him? Just curious
  13. ay size to the fish?
  14. weird. what lake?
  15. Good jobs guys. I heard they are biting good, alond with the whites.
  16. Talked to a forum member today that fished in a small tourney yesterday. He said there were LOTS of 4 and 5 pound fish caught and weighed. They fished out of Bolivar Landing and never went to far from that area. Im sure he will chime in when he sees this.
  17. Had our monthly tourney out of Long Creek yesterday. Had my hopes up with the water dropping and water clarity getting better. Started out in the marina area as it was dark when we started. Flipped a jig and worm around the marina docks with nothing. Moved to the Brush Creek area fishing jig, worm, and crank on points out to 25' of water with no luck. Fished down the South Fork area with the same baits, again nothing but a few 10" and 12" bass. The fog had rolled in pretty thick by 6:30am which made it beautiful to be on the lake looking up at the bluffs with the fog rolling in. Looked like elk country. Around 10:00 i moved to the 86 bridge fishing the west rock bank and into the cove with a few short fish caught. The bluegill were loving the Ned. The final 1 1/2 hours i fished the Big Cedar Hollow area catching shorts. It was a tough day out there for us in the tourney, as well as the few other bass fishermen i talked to that werent in our group. Im not sure if my fishing skills have gone down the tube, or if TR as a whole is in bad shape. At this point im thinking i need to stick to deep water, but my brain tells me to stay 20' or shallower. Out of 6 of us fishing, there was 1 fished weighed in A few of the guys are contributors on this site, and had a tough time also For those of you that live and fish there often, if you are successful each outing, then your well ahead of me on that lake. And did i mention it was a rough sucker out there for us aluminum boat guys?
  18. Tho i havent personally used Marine Repair Center, i have a few buddies who have, that rave about their service. Not sure they got the deal that Bill did, but they have nothing bad to say. And they were fast at getting it done.
  19. Good job rps for figuring those fish out and sharing those tips. Those puppies will eat good.
  20. Good of ya to show the gent a few live sessions before he takes the plunge. Enjoy your Stockton trip. I think we may head to Beaver to try our luck.
  21. Myself and another forum member fished Long Creek area 8days ago. We seen several shad floaters, along with catfish, several fry, and a bass. Hope this is a temp thing due to water temps.
  22. Thanks for the offer 5bites. Im sure we will cross paths again, especially if ya invite me to Grand for the day. ? I seen the plastic lens. I looked at the Wiley X. They are in my price range and good review. Bass Pro carries them, along with the Costas and i will be there tomorrow for club meeting so will make my decision. Thanks for the input on lens color especially.
  23. Thanks guys. Looks like amber it is. Ive read a few reviews where others say the glass lens can be uncomfortable after a few hours. Is that the case? If so im not seeing Costas in a plastic lens.
  24. I lost my fishing shades in the lake recently. I have never payed more than $50.00 for a pair of polarized sun glasses, but looking to get a good pair now. Ive been looking at the Costa 580. My question is, what color of lens to get? I fish alot, so the sun/cloud scenario plays a role. If you only had one color lens, what would it be?
  25. Ruark West is my choice. Family oriented.
