  1. Reviving this topic as my buddy and I are hitting these 2 creeks in the morning. Hopefully have a good trip report to follow if we can find a few. Water conditions look good since the last rain they had which had them running pretty good. Hopefully they are cleared up since then.
  2. @shrapnel Looks like your Mojo would fall under the $55 replacement plan. Plus whatever it will cost to ship the rod to them. https://stcroixrods.com/pages/service-warranty I'd call first as well and they will get you all setup. Also surprised to hear it broke like that.
  3. I just had an out of warranty rod replaced a moth or so ago. Just give them a call and I am betting they will take care of ya. For $60 I received a brand new replacement on one of my premier ultralights that got eaten by a car door. Thats a pretty sweet deal on something that 1. was out of warranty and they could of told me I was out of luck, and 2. was absolutely my fault for it breaking. I'd explain the situation and also kindly ask if they could inspect the rod for any defects. I'm kind of surprised it broke lifting a fish as I've put my little buggy whips through some abuse and knock on wood havent broken them other than car doors.
  4. That $1000 worth of baits won't mean squat when he pulls in the next state record, maybe even world record Brownie... I thought I had it bad chasing sea monsters LOL.
  5. Hahahahaha, I think I might of pee'd a bit laughing at that. What happens at jigfest stays at jigfest!
  6. I'm pretty sure when Mrs. BH has you stuffed we are going to want you clothed in your native outfit attire and not your birthday suit. Although the latter sight might make an interesting yard ornament down there in Billetheadville. Plus we both know I can't sit still that long...
  7. You should see me try to watch Wicked Tuna... I do stop occasionally I promise 😛
  8. Phils still got a few Yaks to rent as well out of his place I think. I have yet to try them out though. I also fished with some guys from Springfield who Kayak at night, but only with the water off. I think a Yak at night with little or no flow would be awesome for chasing big browns. Def a buddy system though as it would up the need for safety.
  9. With the G3's at closeout pricing they are just a tad more or the same as the Freestones Z new. You guys are leaning me towards the G3's... I have a vest for all the gizmos and doo-dads to hang off them vs having it on the front of the waders. As for pool bladders Mr. BH, you can only drink soo much monster to stay up at night without peeing every 10 minutes LOL.
  10. Found this today as my search continues... I am going to sign up for the SlingTV 30 day trial just to watch it. For those cord cutters out there that seems to be the only option besides Dish Network and Uverse...
  11. That's my main attraction for a zipper LOL. I know that trying to pee in the middle of the night and forgetting to zip up the top pouch of your waders which you've now dumped car keys, phones, wallet, batteries, and God knows what else into the brush is super awesome... Much worse if they go into a urinal or into the dark abyss of a camp style bathroom. Somebody needs to make a pee port on these waders... Sell it to Simms for big bucks LOL. I may do some experimenting on my old waders once I upgrade. Were the Freestones just not up to snuff? Better or worse than the whiteriver stuff?
  12. Yeah stinks you lost em... I've caught a few walleye jigging at night on 3lb maxima and a 4'6 ultralight. Thats a fun time for sure if you can keep the line out of their mouths. I hate treble hooks. As I've said before on here I crimp all my barbs which def costs me some fish but with night time + treble hooks + angry fish I'd much rather those hooks come out easy vs sticking and staying put...
  13. I've searched most of the online providers with no luck other than the 9min intro...
  14. So my waders took a beating in the thorny bushes of AZ... I'm pondering making a jump to something beside the cheaper White River ones I have been fishing for the past few years. The BassPro warranty has seen me through a number of replacements no questions asked, but I am intrigued by the fact these have a zipper up the front. I realize no waders are impervious to rough brush, but have heard nothing but good things about Simms and heard they have a great warranty to boot. The G4's are almost double what I can get the Freestones for and I would like to know if the juice is worth the squeeze... I know ones Gortex and the other is not, but would like to hear from anyone that has tried both. Also debating if the zipper is worth it, or just another failure point, over the closeout G3's which I've found under $300. Not afraid to buy once cry once as I'll likely wear them more than most purchasers, but price is a bit hard to swallow unless they are really that amazing...
  15. HAHAHAHAHAHA! That makes me laugh and also a bit sad I am not along for the ride... I'd be ruined when I got back from a trip like that. Safe travels guys! Can't wait to hear all about it.
  16. It's a very different and fun way to fish them. I have only fished a few days out of a boat where I've tried to stick with it and its definitely a quality over quantity type of day, but when they hammer that stick bait it gets the blood pumping. Night time is a different animal altogether for me. I throw sticks almost exclusively when they are generating at night. Just have to slow it way down and really let the bait work in the current. Theres been nights where we'd slow down to a crawl and work x raps high up in the water column. You'd hear or see the fish hit from below and set your hook on the breach. Tons of fun, but I'm still missing that big brown at night. For some reason I always stick big pigs of rainbows, not that I'm complaining. One of these days though between the walleye, white bass, smallies, kentuckys, drum, suckers, rainbows, smaller browns, and even crappie we've caught up there on stick baits below the dam I hope to get hooked into a sea monster brown that I'm able to land.
  17. Yeah I hope so too, and buddy once my girls have all gone off to college I hope to be right there with ya in the woods. Well maybe not quite neighbors as I don't think the wives would allow that combo to happen... Mrs. BH would give me heck for wearing ya out all day every day and mine will only tolerate so much Extreme Fishing antics LOL.
  18. Cut the cord recently myself... I wish I would of done it sooner. Between the online services that are out there as long as you have decent internet over 10mb you can find just about everything. I can even still watch live cardinals broadcast over YoutubeTV... Also saved over $100 month. Off to search for this show. Hoping I can find it online somewhere.
  19. Dang buddy, Nice job on the log perch. I wish I would of coordinated my schedule better... We were maybe 20 or 30 miles from ya on Saturday as we were down in Doniphan... Al that stinks about your aquarium... Would love to see some pics of that setup. Maybe we need to start a thread on that! Would love to see some native species setups as I've always wanted to set one up.
  20. Nice video buddy. Love the chip munk sounds lol. We're you throwing to midging fish, or could you just see them schooled up? Seems like you had really fast hook ups.
  21. Nice job man! Sounds like you got it figured out and thats a great first day! Phil sells some indicators up there that are smaller and closed with just a hole through them. I have switched to those as I throw the little rubber band ones off all the time too.
  22. Thats awesome! Gotta plant those seeds! I am a lucky man in that at least my oldest will fish all day with me. She's a bit of a tom boy. The other two will hang for a little bit, but my oldest gets mad at em like I do. I am new to Huk gear but so far they have exceeded my expectations. Nice being able to keep the sun off ya. The hoodies work great as I'm bald so I can keep the sun off my dome. I have some of the long sleeve shirts too which I like. The back on that hoodie is vented and stays pretty cool up to about 85 degrees or so. I also need to shop some lighter colors though. Beats lathering up in sunscreen.
  23. Text is such a poor form of communication... Hard to show sarcasm and snarkiness, and others may not know the personal relationships behind some of the ribbing that we give each other around here. I know for sure that if all of us were on the water or around a fire there's likely not too many here who we wouldn't call good company. I for one have met some awesome folks here, and glad I've got the chance to meet them and fish with them. @ColdWaterFshr that includes you good sir. Despite our differences of opinion on certain topics I'd be down to fish with ya anytime. And my apologies to you for any feathers I may have ruffled in the past...
  24. Nice fish! Cool video. What'd you have on under that float? If you don't mind sharing. Thats a great way to start a day!
  25. Great news to hear! Hoping for a full recovery!
