  1. Welcome back. The fish missed you. They were just getting back at you for not trying to catch them for 3 months. Some people don't leave home without their lucky hat. You on the other hand set a whole new bar with the glue fix. lol Mike
  2. I don't think we give out participation trophies. But if you don't win you can appeal the results, blame it on the FBI or the Russians. Mike
  3. C4f, I didn't say we caught a lot of fish. But thanks for thinking we did. lol Mike
  4. Oh, now I get it. Thanks for the explanation. I wondered how he could keep track. In the old days I had a partner who drank a beer every time we caught a fish and at the end of the day we counted cans. Now I eat a piece of candy each time I catch a fish and at the end of the day I count the candy rappers. Same concept. But whatever works. Mike
  5. Beautiful sunset picture. It doesn't get any better than that. Sounds like you guys had a pretty sweet time. Mike

    Big M 2/23

Thanks. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then. I think it was one of Quillback's pet Bass cause the fish looked surprised to see me. Mike

Dave, I agree on the heavier head. And when they grab it they hold on. Mike

It was nice that Champ & Donna went to Eagle Rock. Everyone followed them and left Big M alone. Mike

    Big M 2/23

Mary and I (M & M) put in at Big M at noon. Eagle Rock looked jammed when we passed it so we went to Big M. Only one other trailer on the Big M parking lot. WT was 57.6 to 59.5. Color was good and there was a nice breeze. We caught 8 bass most of which were KY Bass. Had 3 keepers. The Bass in the picture was caught on a shakey head at the back of a dock in 15 fow. Fish Hit just as the lure hit the bottom when I moved the lure the first time. I've decided to use the zinker z on my shakey heads. The buoyancy of the z helps keep it standing up. I did not have my scale so I'm not sure of the weight but it went back in the water after the picture to grow a little more. The other keepers were caught on a Rock Crawler and a Ned. We took out at 3. Mike
  10. Devan, nice report. Thanks for the information. Healthy looking big fish in the pictures. Mike

    Cabin Fever

Randy, please tell me there is a silver lining in those snow clouds. Just once I am looking for a normal gradual warming so we can see the Pre, spawn and post periods like they are supposed to be. Honestly I would not know how to act if we didn't have a late snow or tornados in the spring. Mike
  12. Kdc, thanks for the information. Nice healthy looking fish. Mike
  13. Sprint, congratulations. I agree with rps. Mike
  14. That's what I do including spinning reels. But I'm left handed so it works for me. Strong hand on the rod and ready to work the lure without switching hands after a cast. Mike
  15. I agree with Dave about the GP red flake on TR. I also ran across this video showing a comparison between the different lures used as a Ned rig regarding the way they lay in the water. Most of us know this but it really makes you think about what to use on a shakey head and as jig trailers, etc Mike
  16. Bill, excellent information. Very accurate and consistent with the reports we read on this forum. Thank you Mike
  17. Quill, nice day indeed. Great pictures. That do nothing fishing might be the trick. Most of us cast our lure and right away start looking for our next cast. When I slow down with those bottom baits I have more luck. Thanks for the information. Mike
  18. Sprint, healthy looking fish. Mike

    Dam area 2/11

    Chris, welcome home. Mike
  20. Patlock and I managed to fish (or should I say cast) for 3 hours in the morning. WT was 48.6 to 50.2. Pat managed to catch 2 nice SM on the ned in <20 fow. I on the other hand managed to make a lot of casts. Finally I cast a shakey head next to the back corner of a dock in about 12 fow and promptly got a birds nest. After I managed to get the line right and as I was tightening up the slack I noticed my line was about 20 yards from the dock. I set the hook and a beautiful LM that looked to be around 3 lbs was on the other end. The fish came up to the top and decided to see if my trolling motor blade can cut my line. The dang fish was right! Snap went the line and the fish swam away to enjoy the day. Oh well I continued to cast for another half hour and decided to fight the wind on the ride back to the ramp. All in all saw a lot of boats mostly moving. A beautiful day to enjoy the water for sure. Mike
  21. I've already had a run in with the cove watch dogs who jump in the water after my lures. I don't go into your side of Beardsley anymore because you keep saying there is no fish there and I know you would not mislead anyone. So thanks for saving me time by eliminating water based upon your remarks. Same reason I don't fish points around big M because Quillback says there are no fish on any of the points. This forum really makes it easy for me to eliminate water. Mike
  22. Abk, I didn't think you knew how get up there around Big M. Let me know and I'll put a road map on your dock. Mike
  23. Bassmaster had a multi-part video series about boat restoration. I have to say that I followed the recommendations in the video using those products and have been very happy. I have an '87 Cajun and while it does not look brand new it sure looks a lot better and the oxidation has not returned. I'm blaming my lack of fish catching on the boat being too shiney causing the fish to swim away from it. Mike
  24. Quill, nice report. Thanks for the information. Sounds like your day was much better than ours. We got out for a couple of hours around the dam in the afternoon on Tuesday. We only caught one spot but it was a nice, chunky 17" keeper. My wife caught it which was good for her. She will only throw the Ned and has caught keepers the last two times out. Water temp was 48.5 in one cove and 50.2 on main lake points. Fish came from 17 fow on a main lake chunk rock bank at the mouth of Indian Point. We were trying to catch bobby b and big c's pet keepers. Then the wind really picked up so we left around 2:30 Mike
  25. Cobra, thanks for the information. Welcome to the forum. Ditto on the OAF tourney. Mike
