I had the pleasure of going to a few "shoots" that were setup as fund raisers for a senator. Brush hogged sun flower fields next to the Missouri river with literally clouds of birds. Full breakfast, open bar, ladies clean all your birds and a big BBQ. Awesome setup! We would sit on the levee in the shade and just have the best time. The dude retired and it was over just like that.
I love a good dove shoot. I've hit managed areas in St Charles County but they got so packed it was difficult to get drawn. I've had some phenomenal hunts later in the season on those same fields after everyone quit on them. New birds would show up way late in the season with very cold weather. They follow the river down from the north.
