May I help return to the real topic? As part of a writing exercise for my classes, I would ask them to tell a story with a point in less than 100 words. One year they told me it could not be done. I wrote the following during that class to show them it could be done. September 2001 On the 11th, I was in Texas to visit my father. He was in a nursing home and could not recognize me. Still, I visited when I could. That night I laid awake and tried to digest the horror which overlaid an already bittersweet trip. As I finally fell asleep, I realized my father was lucky. He had a reason not to recognize the world.

Really good advice. For the spoon, try a 3/4 to 1 ounce Binks or War Eagle in any color so long as it is white or mostly white.

Small treble trouble

First, you should know I am fussy about my tackle and stubborn in my ways. I use Daichi Death Traps or Gamakatsu G Finesse Tournament Grade trebles. Second, IMO, braid is not your problem so long as your rod has a slow enough action to avoid ripping the hooks out. The rods you describe sound fine to me. I fish braid to lure on nearly everything now days. Check out the Finatic line or braid. Instead, when you feel a fish, you might try reeling quickly until you feel the fish, and then simply lean back against the fish without an explosive jerk of the rod. With both topwaters and cranks, just because you feel or see a fish slap the bait doesn't mean you need to set the hook. Instead, a quality hook pretty much sets itself once you lean back on the fish. I do keep my drag fairly light but not too light. After I have the fish on, I sometimes need to tighten it a bit, but not very often. What I have described works for me, but some days while topwater fishing my hook up percentage drops. I feel those are days when the fish just slap at my bait. Good luck. -

It was overcast and cool this morning, and it is after Labor Day, so I went to the lake. I only caught two, both small. Why am I rejoicing? One of them was a 12" walleye. If you catch a walleye on a Ned while bass fishing, the lake has enough walleye to spend time learning where they are. My wife, who loves walleye, is excited.

1. That is not a Boga. 2. Phil tells me Bogas harm trout and I believe him. However I have used a Boga on walleye and bass for over five years. I was flat tired of hooks in my hand. None. Let me repeat that. None suffered any damage or holes. In fact the Boga does not displace the jaw as much as lipping does. As for my man card, do you want to play some rugby? 😁

Beaver town beach and launch are NOT no wake, but frequently have kayaks around. If they have the swim float out be careful for young swimmers.

Sauger, not walleye. Saugers look dirty like they have rolled in mud. They are seldom as large as walleye, like many river versus lake fish. They taste just as good, when you can catch one legal to keep.

Have done that in the past. Probably the best way. Last night I skimmed the juices , but obviously that is not as effective a removing a fat cap.

I have short ribs slow braising in wine and stock. How many hours of the aroma can I stand?

I went to the farmers market this morning. I was extremely disappointed. The market was closed March - July. It has been moved from its traditional location because of street construction, and many vendors no longer show up. Only two limited veg stands. Two. Limited. There were wood bowls, honey, candles, bread, crystals, goat cheese, local farm meats, food trucks, but no tomatoes. No tomatoes. The only thing I bought was baby eggplant. I drove south to the truck farm area on the banks of the Arkansas river and stopped for zuchinni, tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers. I just finished making a batch or ratatouille for tonight. While out and about, we stopped at a sausage and butcher shop for sausages to go with the ratatouille. I also picked up some short ribs to braise for tomorrow. Can you imagine? No tomatoes? Where will I get my Cherokee Purples?

Simplify. Use a very small barrel swivel to link the braid to the floro. Put it about 4' from the weight with the hook about a foot above that. I use that method for spoon jigging as well. Fish don't seem to care. And yes, the Crazy Alberto is tedious to tie.

We all want to be here, healthy, as long as we can. Some have faith in a god to help them live as they should. Some do not and live according to their own code. To me, it does matter to what god someone turns. Nor does it matter to me what moral code they might follow. For myself, my goal is to have those who remain after me say, He was a good man and we will miss him. On the topic of moral code, think on this: Do no harm, be honest, aid those who need, and oppose those who would harm others. Just my two cents.

I suggest you visit. If the franchisee is any good, you will love the dogs. I order three regular and either root beer or Bud. What I have left in the day determines the beverage.

I have the small Kamado Joe Jr. I never had to replenish the coals in the entire 14 hours. I cook at 180 to 225 until the meat is between 190 and 200.

I love the burger diners with a counter and permanent stools. In Tulsa, Claude's, Brownie's, Ty's, and the Weber's Rootbeer Stand are all excellent. More upscale (tables and chairs) try Goldies Patio Grill (50 years ago it was called Goldies Par 3 as it sat on a par three golf course.)
