Maybe it's the industry I'm in, but I see plenty of cars that have melted down and caught on fire. This is the same limpdick argument everyone has about EVs melting down on the side of the road. Gas cars burn too. All the freaking time.

Small sparse tails, short legs, heavy hook, 8lb mono leader. The biggest fish I have caught on a gurgler in freshwater have taken when it's just dead drifted. But the most fun you can have with a gurgler is skating it across the current. At the end of a riffle, across the top of a tail out, across the end of a submerged tree. The hookup ratio sucks. The fish are small. The takes are nuclear explosions. Soon as it warms up I will get out and video some of this.

A crease fly is different to me. I don't even get close to trying to fish one the same. But a fluoro leader will sink under the front of a gurgler and it will cause it to take a little nose dive when you first try to move it and that's when you start fishing a gurgler wrong. It's not a popper. I'm trying to skate it across the surface, not just smash through it.

Cheapest ones are around $4500. But that’s only 1000 fps. I would think it would need to be much higher. Then you get into 10’s of thousands.

Maybe so but you can't fish a gurgler very well with fluoro. Mono works much better.

I use straight braid on most of my spinning reels. I know at times I might get more bites with a leader, but I’ve had amazing days on crystal clear water with straight braid going to a Ned rig.

But I thought it was okay to grab them by the feline.

I’ve had that problem in the past with fluoro. I fixed it though. Fairly easily too. I went back to doing the same thing I had been doing since 1976 or so. Mono with an improved clinch knot. Maybe a loop knot on certain things. It’s not stylish but it works.

I'm all about destinations and fishing everywhere that I can. But the fish you are seeking are very close and all around you. Out of all the ones you have mentioned I only feel that the Gasconade offers a real advantage over the streams in your backyard. But you have to do the Buffalo. Go with quantity over quality and you won't be disappointed. It's a beautiful place.

The opportunity still looms largely. I feel it would be best but I might be the only one that sees that. The other option is death. I fear that one of those is coming up fast. It’s sad when no amount of love or money can protect someone. I love to help people that need it but if you refuse to help yourself then you lose me.

The problem is not with the people that are trying to rebound. The real problem are the ones that refuse to do it no matter how many people help them. I have a very close relationship to a couch surfer. He's not trying to rebound. He's always scamming to get ahead but rather than get a real job he's just trying to "trade" his way into retirement. He's been doing this since he was 18 and he's getting close to 50 now. I think it was last week that my wife had to pick him up at 2:00am because he was evicted from his current couch. That won't happen again. You can give him money and try to help him out but he will do something stupid. Buy a car "that just needs a battery", next thing you know it needs rings and head gaskets, and if you give him the money for that he'll take it to one of the local Ghetto Vegas locations to "double-up" and leave there with barely enough money to get some decent fentanyl and still be walking. Some people just aren't intelligent enough to rebound. Or just try in general.

They eventually go to Springfield and claim a corner. There's an old guy that is at the same corner daily. And has been for over a year now. And for the record I'm not against these people. I'm against them trashing everything that they can get their hands on. Or the ones that panhandle while driving new cars. One young man, freezing his balls off in KC this morning, received a nice wad of cash from me this morning. Whatever was left from buying a coffee and a sandwich from a twenty. I have zero issues helping and always keep some cash on me to do so. But I'm tired of the ones that think you owe them something or are just out there conning people. I bet my wife spends a few hundred a month on them. I used to try to reason with her. I did finally convince her that it's not okay to give them rides or let them use her phone. But she's a different soul. We are polar opposites. Her name is Angel, and mine is no where close.

They don’t have to force them to move along. All they need to do is “check on them”. Sooner or later they will get tired of the police checking on them and they will move along. But instead they just sit in their cars watching. Doing nothing.

I think it’s because the city of Springfield will put up with their BS. I’ve traveled all over the country and Springfields homeless problem might not be as bad as others but we take the award for having the worst acting homeless I have ever seen. They will yell at you for money or a cigarette. And then trash everything. Poop on the sidewalk, leave dirty needles everywhere, smash anything that’s breakable. These are not people trying to get back on their feet. Just a bunch of bums that should be encouraged to move along. But the city is more worried about writing parking tickets to people that are contributing to society. Every other small city I go to is revitalizing their downtown and making it a destination. In Springfield they have spent a bunch of money turning it into a crime scene. People laying all over the square, taking baths in the fountain, leaving their trash everywhere. Nobody says anything. But you park wrong or are there a few minutes too long and that will be sixty bucks. This city is screwed. It’s time to clean house and they can start with the chief of police. I’m not even sure if he’s that bad but it’s time to try something new.

Last I heard they had not identified the shooter because nobody saw nuthin. Just a bunch of punks causing problems. I used to take pics of them playing basketball but I gave that up because it just started turning into a long argument, rather than a game. We had great refs in the beginning but they all quit. Some during games. That’s always fun. Not to mention that there are certain words that you can’t say because it’s disrespectful to them but they can scream it at each other and you can’t say anything about that either. All the talent in the world wasted on being a tough guy.

Springfield has turned into a cesspool. Homeless everywhere destroying anything that is given to them. Shootings all the time, I know 2 of those shot at the Barnhouse. I don’t know any details but I know it was caused from someone that doesn’t know when to stfu. Been around him many times and have done my best to stay away from him the past couple of years. He thinks he’s a big tim gangster. He’s just a punk with a gun.

There are plenty of people that are disgracing our country that nobody seems to care about. What about those idiots? And OMG, some of them are even those veterans you speak of. Being outraged when it only fits your agenda is called being a retard. Be better than that. Not everything is about politics. And we need a lot less of the BS that is coming from all of those losers. I'll take an athlete following their true beliefs over a lying politician any day of the week. If Megan Rapino had "Let's Go Brandon" tattooed across her chest you would be trying to get a date with her. American false outrage is silly.

Yep. One of the reasons that College football is the worst of it. Much rather watch high school or the NFL over college ball. Heck I think I would rather watch golf than college football. And I’ve never even played golf.

Not sure if they still do but Gasconade Hills used to rent big square stern canoes. They had a platform on the back big enough for a camp chair. And plenty of room down inside to have several chairs. It’s the same deal though. Put you in at one spot and you are going to take out at another downstream.
