  1. Hate to see him go, but that's a lot of ,money.
  2. Did a search and came up with this article: Don't skip the skipjack | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - Arkansas' Best News Source (arkansasonline.com)
  3. Wish it was closer, I might fish for them once just for the heck of it.
  4. Be very careful on the Corps docks if they have frost on them. A few years ago I was launching my boat early one morning at one of the COE launches at Beaver. It was frosty out. A boat pulls up to the dock, they had been out night fishing for stripers with a guide. The guide gets out walks down the walkway, steps onto that flat metal piece that connects the dock to the bank, and his feet go straight out from him and BAM!, Frazier goes down! I was 2 feet away from him when it happened. He just laid there for a minute and got up and was OK.
  5. I thought they might be doing it for cat bait.
  6. I did not know that people fished for skipjacks, outside of you species guys.
  7. That's a great trip! A little snow here in BV, but it looks to have stopped.
  8. Some Drink stuff from the local news: Missouri's Eliah Drinkwitz represents Alma on national stage with Cotton Bowl win (nwahomepage.com)
  9. Sunday actually looks decent. The only other boat we saw yesterday looked to be doing the search for deep fish thing. It is definitely a way to sack them. New Years day Polar Bear tourney on Beaver was won by a couple of guys fishing jigs, so there is still hope for us throwback bank beaters.
  10. Brought some fun diseases over too, like smallpox.
  11. Extended forecast is showing some really cold weather late next week. Bring some warm duds!
  12. I could not have fit on any more layers of clothes, and I was still cold. Brrrrr.....
  13. I'm not mad at the guy, but strictly for humor, my nickname for him is: "Drink-a-Schlitz".
  14. Call Bill at JWM trailer in Reeds Spring.
  15. You'll get subscription blocked on this link, but you can see enough to see the winning weights. 5 fish for 16.78 Anglers use jigs to win Polar Bear tourney at Beaver Lake | The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - Arkansas' Best News Source (arkansasonline.com)
  16. I like doubling my money. 😃
  17. Yep, we saw one other boat all day and that appeared to be a striper fisherman.
  18. It's great that they took out the Elwha dams, but after watching salmon recovery efforts for years in the PNW, you always have to factor in netting. When the Elwha dams came out there was already contention over who would harvest the fish even before a single salmon reached the upper river. Wild Chinook salmon fillets run $25 or more retail per pound, it is hard to keep people from catching them with that kind of payoff. Chinook from the Puget Sound rivers spend their adult lives off the Alaska coast and when they migrate home, they face commercial harvest off the coasts of Alaska and BC, plus recreational harvest. You can have the greatest habitat possible in the rivers, but you still need salmon to make it to the spawning gravel. I hope that sometime in the future it all works out and the salmon and steelhead runs return to where they were years ago.
  19. My goal is pretty simple, I just want to get out and fish as much as possible.
  20. He does have an arm. WA has a couple of good WR's too.
  21. Fished with Dutch today, we launched at 0900 with the forecast for the temps not getting above freezing until then and we fished until about 3 PM. It never got very warm and we had a bit of a breeze, cold day. The fishing was good however, we caught 29 smallmouth between the two of us. Dutch got one that went 2.5 lbs. for our biggest, most were in the 13-17 inch range. 1/2 Zinkers on 1/16 oz heads were our best baits, and the fish were in 10-20 FOW, on steep rocky banks, for the most part. We also got a couple on Keitechs.

  23. Just finished watching the WA/TX game (recorded). Both CFP games were good ones. I hope WA can play with MI, but MI's defense looks pretty stout. Football this morning, now off to Beaver to tease the smallmouth with Dutch. Gotta love the retired life! Well, except for the getting old part. 😃
  24. Yeah man, getting ready to hit Beaver today, AKA the Dead Sea. 😃
  25. A shorter, thicker version would be interesting for sure.
