I don't see much in the way of media when it comes to Hawgs hoops, I just watch the games. It will be interesting to see how they play against Mizzou.

Official One Bass Tourney thread - March 11, 2023

Sorry you can't make it DC. Isn't swimming good therapy? 😃 -
Black made that crybaby gesture towards the Vandy bench when he was taking those free throws, all he did was motivate them to win. Coach Muss needs to have a talk with that dude.

I can't explain Arkansas let alone the SEC. Arkansas has to beat Mizzou Wednesday.

Great pics, some really nice looking fish! -
Thanks for the tips on what to look for!

You are welcome, those Warts were just sitting around gathering dust, good to see someone make something useful out of them.
-
That would put me off that franchise.

Yeah, heck I'm probably doing it myself, have to start paying attention to what I'm doing. I guess if the steering wheel broke off in my hands, then I'd be concerned. 😀
-
Yeah I can see grabbing onto it, but using it to lift yourself out...
-
Man, if you need to tilt the wheel and then latch onto to it to get out of the seat, might be time to start a diet and exercise program.

COMMUNICATION (ko-myoo-ni-kay-shon) n. Female... The open sharing of thoughts and feelings with one's partner. Male... Leaving a note before taking off on a fishing trip with the boys.

Met my buddy John B. at the ramp at 0645 and we fished from about 0700 to noon. Great weather for fishing, but that catching was tough. I think we got 7 bass and a couple of them were chunky 2 lb. fish. Ned rigs and 2.8 Keitechs did the damage. Saw very little striper activity, and only saw one boat striper fishing. Not many other boats either, which surprised me seeing how nice the weather was. Weather sure has changed today, snow flurries this morning and now a biting cold wind blowing out of the north. WT 48

Let's get a thread going so we know who is bringing what. I'll bring the charcoal, lighter fluid and matches. Kielbasa and dogs too.

M&M has the permits $10 voluntary donation, proceeds to go to CAM (Christian Action Ministries) Here are the rules, such as they are. Feel free to bring food. See pinned food thread and reply there if you plan on bringing anything March 11, 2023, Eagle Rock COE Ramp, 0700 start time, Tournaments ends at 1400. Must be a registered OA member to participate. Big bass format, largest weight wins. Any black bass (Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted Bass, Meanmouth) are eligible, but only one bass will qualify as the biggest. Plaque will be awarded to the winner (and just think of the bragging rights you will have on the forum). Immense prestige will accrue to the winner of this tournament. You can fish multiple people out of a boat, but the trophy will go to the individual that weighs in the biggest bass. You can trailer to another Table Rock launch if you prefer. Typical bass tourney rules apply - No bait, no trolling, and no A-rig or multi-arm lures. No promises on what will be there as far as food, but last year things came together and we had a pretty good spread. I recommend you bring your own drinks. Always a chance that weather could be bad in March, if it is looking bad enough to make travel treacherous then we will have to reschedule. We'll notify everyone a day or two in advance it if looks like bad weather. The list of champions: 2015 - Kbilb 2016 - Little Jasper 2017 - Carl W 2018 - Kbilb 2019 - Kbilb 2020 - Chip Covid 2021 - JayBill 2022 - Jaybill 2023 - Your moniker here?

The Filet-o-Fish is one of my favorites, and if they still make the McChicken the way they used to, it is pretty good.

Marriage negotiations 101: My wife and I were up all night with a crying baby. I informed her I would quit crying if she let me go fishing.

After a life on the road working I have had them all. I don't do fast food burgers anymore, but always preferred the flame broiled ones if given a choice. Last time I had a burger was at Five Guys, it was a burger, not bad, and came with a LOT of decent fries. I stop by McD's every once in a while for a couple of plain sausage biscuits. I like them and last I checked they were something like a $1.29 each.

No I don't. Even though I am a sports fan, I never have been one for attending live games. I am definitely a TV fan.
-
Sorry to hear this, I always enjoyed talking to Patrick, great guy. I always will regret that I never got a chance to go fishing with him.

Bama coming to the Ville tomorrow night, that should be a good one.

Next couple of days in the 60's, this is great!

And what has he done, except complain? He's doing it to generate click bait income. He's got an audience of people who he has believing he is leading some type of movement. There is no movement, guys will post on the internet complaining about growth, but beside complaining, don't do squat. Whenever the movement gets started and is led by people that are committed to doing more than whine in videos, or post on the internet, let me know, because I might sign up. Reality? People don't post videos on Youtube to explain reality. They do it to generate click bait. They find an audience that believes what they are preaching then they feed them the video. I give them credit for figuring out how to make money posting videos. Great way to make a living. You want to stop growth on Table Rock, well you'd better have good leadership that can deal with politicians and a host of government agencies that set the regulations. Clicking on Blaukat videos won't make that happen. That's the reality. It will take hard work and commitment and there's a good chance it will go nowhere because there are a lot of people out there who are perfectly happy with continued growth. Good luck and let me know when you find someone who is a leader and willing to make the type of commitment that is needed. It will be a long hard slog, it's going to take years of dedicated, smart work and more than a little money. One last thought, then I am off to fishing. This is turning into a finger pointing exercise. Developers, wake boats, tournaments, FFS, and even happy people, it is always someone else. Everyone of us that fishes or spends any time on these lakes or rivers or has a business that is associated with the fishing and boating industry are part of the problem (if there really is one). You'll never get a "movement" going if all you can do is attack whatever group or groups you see as being the enemy. All that will happen is that we'll go back and forth on the forum until people get tired of it, and in 6 months or a year it will pop up again. Nothing gets "fixed". Heck I haven't seen anyone on this thread come up with any kind of plan or course of action to fix things.

Hey John @JohnsfollyOutdoor channel has a flyfishing show coming up about fishing for cobia in Chesapeake Bay. I didn't know they came into the bay, but those are some tasty fish. I bet they are a blast to catch too.

Yep, caltrops. Caesar fought the Gauls at a place called Alesia, the site has been extensively excavated and they found quite a few caltrops the Romans had put out in front of their lines. They were used in the Middle Ages too. Mainly as a defense against cavalry.
