  1. Alright now, that's enough bragging up of this particular spot, there's much better fishing available down the lake in Beardsley and Aunt's creek. πŸ˜€
  2. La Brea tar pits - Talk about a sticky trap..
  3. Even I recognize that spot. @rps
  4. Mr. McClelland has made it to the next round. From what I gather, this tourney is a best 5 tourney, but operates under the BPT tourney format. Couple of qualifying rounds, then an elimination round and then finally a championship round. Winner gets $200K. At least that is my understanding. Anyhoo, Mike is still in it.
  5. Kids, HA! I'll be there tomorrow. But seriously, good to see you got them into them.
  6. That was my last double several weeks ago, couple of whites on a top water. One was about 2 lbs., the other about 8 inches. I really don't want to catch them, but sometimes they show up.
  7. I told a buddy where I got those fish, he went there and they were gone. Maybe they did head up to the James. πŸ˜ƒ Of course they aren't the size you need for your tourneys, I love catching them, especially on top, but they aren't what I'd call tourney fish.
  8. How about the Ichikawa "King Kong" designed by Rick Clunn? 3.5" long and weighs in at 1 and 3/16 oz. I like the looks, but that is a lot of square bill.
  9. I agree, great write up! Well I see Mike McClelland is leading day 1. Weights are pretty low overall, big change from the last tourney.
  10. Walking it. If I ever buy anymore of this lure, I'm replacing the split rings right out of the box.
  11. Glad to see you guys had a great time!
  12. Started at daylight, decided to work a top water down the bank. Fished about a mile of bank, caught 4 bass, one keeper largemouth. After that, worked a few spots with a Keitech, could not find hardly any fish, put one spot in the boat doing that. Now it was 9 AM and things were looking grim... I was working a gravel bank, going down the bank, not getting any bites, and saw a couple of fish blowing up about 100 yards away. Got down to where they were and they just started whacking my top water. There weren't a lot of them blowing up, but they were hot after that Evergreen. I was using an Evergreen SB 105 which has 3 sets of trebles, and during this top water craziness, they managed to mangle the two front split rings and pull the trebles off. With my Evergreen out of commission, I switched to a 1/4 oz Kastmaster and caught several more. Then it was pretty much over. Swam a Keitech for a bit, caught a walleye that was just short of being a fryer, after I released it, cast back right into the same spot and just got hammered, big fish, pulling drag, nothing I could do with it but let it pull drag when it wanted to, I thought for sure I had a super sized wallie, but after several minutes of fish fighting, it turned out to be a really nice channel cat. Put a couple dozen in the boat, mostly 12-15 inch spots with a couple of smallies and largemouth mixed in. There are dinky 3/4 inch shad all over the place, but where these fish were there were bigger 3 inch shad. No doubt in my mind they were in that spot because of those bigger shad. But after a while the shad were gone and so were the bass, I headed back to the ramp a little after 11. WT was 85 first thing in the AM.
  13. Yep, good one, catching them on a square bill is fun!
  14. Not for now anyway, if it becomes legal, who knows? πŸ˜‰
  15. This question appears on the form you have to fill out to purchase a handgun: Question 11.e. β€œ11.e. Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?” It's a yes/no answer. I answer "no" as I don't use marijuana or any narcotic drugs, but I would bet if someone checks "yes" their application will be denied.
  16. I see this technology in my future. I get a lot of followers when I fish the Ned in the winter, I don't see them until they are under the transducer with my current antique sonar. Be pretty neat if you could see them following the Ned.
  17. How not to use a pistol. The story goes on to say that the person that was shot, was shot in the leg and will survive. KENOSHA, Wis. (NEXSTAR) – A Wisconsin woman accidentally shot a friend while using the laser sight on a handgun to play with a cat, authorities said. A criminal complaint charging the 19-year-old woman with negligent use of a weapon said she was visiting a Kenosha apartment on Tuesday afternoon where a 21-year-old man had brought a handgun. The woman, who a witness said had been drinking, picked up the handgun, β€œturned on the laser sight and was pointing it at the floor to get the cat to chase it,” when the gun went off, the complaint filed Thursday said.
  18. That's a great morning (except for the TM).
  19. Good advice. I like shooting pistols for fun, but I don't see myself shooting someone. So far in life I have made it without being in a situation where I had to shoot someone.
  20. Seems like they were getting something like 15 cents a pound for carp and buffalo, you have to catch a lot of fish to make any money at that rate. Now I may be remembering wrong, but it wasn't much that they were getting.
  21. There sticky holsters work well if you are considering carrying in something like a cargo pants pocket. Pistol pulls out easily, holster remains in your pocket. https://stickyholsters.com/
  22. Still Commercial fishermen netting the river up there. Some of you might have seen the series bottom feeders. Bottom Feeders - Scenes (outdoorchannel.com) I saw a few episodes of that show, seems they always had a hard time getting enough fish to make it worthwhile.
  23. First I have seen or heard of one in TR.
