  1. I have heard of long-arming, but I would call that short-legging.
  2. Very nice, I am jealous!
  3. About a month to 6 weeks ago I ran across some big 16-18" whites near point 23 on the White. They were in 50 FOW in front of the docks that are across the lake and down lake a bit from point 23. There are 3 docks there that hang out over deep water, you can't miss them. Dunno if the whites are still there now.
  4. I am going to start doing that this fall, only have some cranking stuff in the boat and force myself to fish cranks.
  5. Launched at 0645 and fished until noon. Fishing seems to be picking up a little, I caught about 20 with 4 keepers. My biggest fish was 2.5 lbs. and it was the first of the day, caught it on a buzz bait. That was also my last one on the buzzer. The rest of my fish came on finesse jigs, FB jigs, and the drop shot. I caught several smallies up shallow on gravel on jigs, and one keeper sized LM on a jig shallow. The others were deeper in the 20-30 foot range off gravel points. Hooked a nice spot off a dock corner over 50 FOW on the drop shot. I tell you he was every bit of 3 lbs. He jumped and tossed the hook. Had a couple of flukey catches today. Hung a jig on a rock, it was in there solid, could not shake it out so started moving the boat towards it to get on the other side, got right above where it was snagged, reeled in the slack, lifted it up and a fish was on it, turned out to be a 14" spot. Was fishing another spot, dragging a jig, heard a fish chasing some shad behind the boat, set the jig rod down with the jig about halfway to the boat so that I could toss a top water at the shad buster (shad buster did not bite). Anyway reeled in my top water, picked up my iig rod, and something started tugging back. Turned out to be a 14" smallie. I wonder if anyone has been swimming a jig lately? Got a few bites today when I was retrieving the jig, next time out I might do a little swim jigging. Water temp was 80.
  6. He's got a good milk run.
  7. That's a nice wally.
  8. Nope, used to in the past when I fished salt water.
  9. Sounds like a great day!
  10. Son! Nothing like a big ol' bass on a top water.
  11. I never used a seat until my knee went south, now I spend about 50% of my time sitting, but I would rather stand.
  12. I see. With my Phoenix, you can't get the pedestal seats out once they are in. I have to get on all fours, push my back up on the seat and put pressure on it, while at the same time wiggling the pedestal and trying to push in that small, hard to push in tab. After doing it a dozen times I have gotten the process down, but the first few time it was a battle. I'm thinking whoever lost that seat probably was done for the day, didn't notice it fall out as they headed back to the ramp, loaded the boat, drove home, put it in the garage and all without noticing the seat was gone.
  13. What I would like to know is how did it get blown out without the owner noticing?
  14. I like to hear that you are getting them on the deep FB jig. That's always a fun bite.
  15. Didn't know they got that far north.
  16. It is funny how two lakes so close together can be so different at times. There were lots of shad on top out in the channel, perfect conditions for the bass to be after them, but they weren't. There were would be one or two every once in a while after the shad, but never any schools that I saw. The gar were really active however. It would be a good time to throw one of those rope lures at the gar if a guy was so inclined.
  17. Neat old pics. Is that Fish Fishburne?
  18. Table Rock was foggy early yesterday and the fish were biting, then it got slick, sunny and hot like you saw on Beaver. The fish just shut down also. Not seeing any schooling activity there like you saw.
  19. Sorry to see that. I have done it a time or two myself, but fortunately never caused any damage.
  20. Got to the launch at 0630, and the fog was thick, stayed close waiting for it to burn off, took almost 2 hours for it to go away. Threw a buzz bait to start, boated 2 short bass and had another half dozen take a swipe at it. Gar were interested in the buzzer also, had one follow it right up to the trolling motor, and had another one, and it looked to be about as long as my leg, grab it right at the boat. He had it for about a second, I looked at him, he looked at me, and he swapped ends and took off. Fortunately he let go of the bait before he took off. Threw a "Crock-o-Gator" buzzbait for the first time today. Compact buzzbait, you can bend the wire a little so that the blade makes contact with the body and get a pretty good clacking noise if you want to. One thing I did not like about it was that the skirt strands will sometimes work their way onto the shaft holding the blade, easy to fix, but it will wreck the retrieve when it happens. When the fog burned off the top water bite died, so I threw some jigs and did a little drop shotting. Picked up a few fish, but never really found them. Left at noon with a dozen total, 2 keepers. Water temp was 80. Did not see a single wake boarder, skier or jet ski.
  21. Whoever has Power Poles will win. Doesn't hurt to have a Hydrowave either.
  22. According to the guide, tomorrow at noon, NBCSP will air a one hour recap of the spring FLW tourney held on Beaver Lake. Something neat they have done on the other shows this year is they give you a Google Earth type view of where anglers are fishing. See Jimmy Houston catch fish on a spinner bait!
  23. Thanks for the report, I like that they are doing some shad chasing on top.
  24. September is so tough at times, but a guy should be able to get a sniff or two on the buzz bait early. Get 'em next time.
  25. Glad to see you pulled through and are on the way to healing up.
