I always take time to enjoy a sunrise or a sunset. I have been watching this one from home all of my life. How many on here have been able to spend a few nights in the same room they came to as a baby? This farm was platted to a distant forefather in the Missouri 1821 Plat Book, making it over 200 years of the same bloodline. Venus in conjunction with a sliver moon as storm clouds clear. It's going to be a wonderful day.

That's the same thing that just came out of me on the toilet. Except it was current, not one from 30 years ago.

White hair and a little blood. Archer shot low, thats belly hair.

Weather has been warm and dry here all season. I have seen little sign of a serious rut. Oct 31, scrapes popped up all over the farm. Then were covered up with leaves after the next weekend never to be used again. I have only see 2 small bucks sparring. Bucks that show up on camera looking for a doe are having the choice of 7 or 8 in the field without any competition. And its all been of a night.

Try rattling them up.

Hoot owls seem to wake me from the deepest slumbers.

It was a birdy day today. Out checking cameras up on the hill at the farm and about run over a woodcock with the 4 wheeler. It just stopped on the side of the road and pooped. I would say he was looking over his shoulders, but they have none. Thinking it was injured, I hopped off the rig and started toward it. When I would get about 2 steps from it, it would move the same distance. I did this till we looped around in the brush and got back to edge of road. It finally flushed at the edge of the road and dumped back into the other side about 6' away, pooped and hunkered down. Thinking it was winded, I advanced and it finally flushed as I was about a step away waiting to grab it. This time it made a good flight, so I left it alone. It was a healthy looking bird, just acting strangely. Back to the garage which I left open to find a snow bird inside flying against the windows. I ran it out. Around the shed into the tractor shed and I flushed a big barn owl out of the trusses. It pooped a streak and flew off to a tree. Arriving back at the other house later, there was a big barn owl sitting in a tree near the house. It stayed in the back yard trees until I unloaded the truck.

Not sure if Hamas is a place, just a terror cell in Gaza. They have been tossing bombs all of my life, never really thought much about it on this go around. Ukraine is more important, Putin is the one to watch.

Up to 145 now. But that thing needs to run even at best, not enough to raise the front end. Looking at Tohatsu on the rebuild 2.0 version. I have another PF 16 hull I am working on. Cutting the weight some on the boat, increasing the power at the rear but keeping it 25 legal.

Ya lost me on Oct. 7. Musta missed that one. Just drink the free booze till you puke up the cheap catering job.

Kindling for next campfire.

How could I fit one of them spinner knobs on my stick steer? Stick steer in the front works for me. Just need some ballast in the back if I fish solo. Up front and at the trolling motor all of the time.

2018-3 got turned around in Louisana and ended up back in Illinois. They are erratic flyers. His gps must have been using Apple maps.

All it takes is one response.

Especially if they are hitting a suspending bait. Usually need to go deeper. Of course, St Francois is about as low as I have ever seen it. I plan on running the little jet boat in a few spots this winter targeting them specifically. There are a group in the area that nail them and stick knives in them. I just hope they leave me a few to enjoy. The ole Jack Salmon is back in the area. Now, MDC needs to work on restoring them in the Castor River. Used to catch them every summer when floating from our farm on the river to Gypsy. Now, the Block Hole and below seem to be where they stop. May run the little jet down on the lower end by Zalma this year for them too.

You need some inspiration if that is all you are thankful for. How much did you bet on them?

Missed ya. Was up yesterday. Fished the fly area from the spring to the half way point by lake road and the hatchery run outfall stream. Pretty slow, only bites on Prince Bead heads with some red or flash in them. Low and clear. Had the upper end to myself from lunch till about 2:30. Never made it past the hatchery road in the park, did not venture down any. Just a day trip, fishing buddy had the brown bottle flu.

You need a quell specker

Sure took alot of stress off the areas that I like to fly fish. Was on the Spring River this week on Weds and did not see another fishing it. Short of a few bait guys at the hatchery area.

Sounds about right. Our were always kept in pens or farrowing houses. We ran registered Chester whites or Hamps. They were alot of work, and even a tame sow would tear you up when they heard a piglet squeal. Hog house would always be stirred up when we worked a new batch pulling milk teeth and trimming tails. Nasty work, but good eating and good money back then.

Was on the Spring River this weekend and crossed the 11pt and Current River in several places. This drought has everything down to almost nothing. I doubt I could get a boat off the trailer at Greer Crossing on the 11pt and nobody there this afternoon in the parking lot. Current river below Van Buren bridge looked like it may have been impassible in a jet boat also at the shoal below the Landing. May be a reason the shuttle and float camps are shut down. Huzzah Valley on 8 looked shut down for the season a few weeks ago when I went thru there in mid Oct.

Feral hogs are different, and our forests and stream beds are alot different than then desert scruff in southern states. They will move of a night and feed. They like soft ground and will root up alot of stuff. They even raze a morel field if they can, like truffels. Like Dutch, I have only seen a lone boar around deer season pass thru on my cams. And its a big one. You really can't hunt them to extinction, they have adapted to the wild. Back in the day, before the fence laws, pigs were free range and that was how they were raised. You would go out and track your pigs down and harvest the meat. Remember the story about Ole Yeller? The dog? I remember free range pigs in my life time, few farmers in my area kept them going after the laws took place. Had a sounder come by while I was turkey hunting near his farm. They just wandered thru. The Russian strain that has populated the wild tends to be more agressive and prolific. They look like they may be here for a while.

They sound like a cricket when flushed, funny noise.

Look at melting points of lead and glass, see which goes quicker. Lead 621 f, glass 2552 - 2912 f. It may explode or shatter at low Temps. I melt them bottles in camp fires all time, can't believe it takes that hi temp. Enter at your own risk and wear face shield.

I always liked the Norfork Tailwater the best for wading. You can usually catch it for low water. Either around the dam at that access or down at the end at Ackman's. Don't know how old the son is, but the Dry Run Creek can be fun for under 16. Worth a visit, hatchery run off that they toss some nice ones into. This should help some https://www.agfc.com/fishing/where-to-fish/trout-waters/norfork-tailwater/
