  2. I hear Venezuela is nice. Wonder if Conce is still around? Foreign exchange student from High School, taught me to cuss in Spanish.
  3. Just a quick photo from Wickliffe yesterday. All of the good things in life, greening grass, mighty river, clear blue sky, family, and 2 forms of glory. All captured in a quick snapshot.
  4. Birds are highly evolved species, I doubt if they will be tricked by painted rocks. And I know for a fact, they don't have peckers. Just a do it all but hole.
  5. Its still there. Grandson got the willies crossing the 62 bridges from Mo to Il and Il to Ky. So I gave him a thrill. Wind gusting to 25 mph too. Beer cans still fit the holes. This one did not get aimed well though. Too much traffic to stop and get out to whizz, but did get to stop and take a pic.
  6. I almost drove to Tecumseh this weekend with the wife to try for white bass run on the area. Weather kept me here. That's as close as I came to it.
  7. I have not seen any drop in traffic or congestion at the gas pump. Just like crack, they will find money for it somehow. They have been busting robber gangs around here this month. 2 tractor trailer loads of stolen stuff in Dexter from local area. High speed chase from Jackson to South County on bunch of teens that were breaking into cars in an apartment complex. Car was stolen and guns inside were all from St. Louis, drove 100 miles burning fuel like a mother to steal stuff. Street beggars all over the place. One came onto a jobsite with a big sob story Friday, wanting a $20 bill from each of us. We just laughed at him. Started to offer him some money for some of his nice clothes he was wearing, but they just were not my style. Interest rates went up last week. Big world adjustment coming for the ole USA.
  8. $50 for an 1 1/2 hour drive to Paducah for me yesterday in Sequoia. I have little 4 strokes under 50 hp, boat gas is cheap. I have always wanted to use them to push the tow rig and save fuel. Hang on, Brandon is floating a gas stimulus to help us thru the summer. $3.79 here.
  9. Only did it a few times. I owned a Kawasaki 454 when I lived down in Lone Oak. Dated a gal in Brookport. The one on the Mississippi at Cairo to the Levee Rd on 62 was my favorite one to stop on, it was a real high arch bridge.
  10. Not with the wind we have here. You should be safe with a blowing wind.
  11. I used to stop on it and take a whizz. You could stuff your beer can in the decking holes. Of course that was late at nite while nobody was watching. Nice view. And that was late 80's.
  12. It will take the fishes a few days to forget this week in Missouri.
  13. Hmm, let me think. Rolled in on Monday, left out of here this afternoon. Double low front been fighting a swirling motion all week. High Northwest winds this afternoon and tomorrow, dropping into 30's of a nite. Water temps dropped a bunch this week, some even got muddier and higher. I bet the little fish indicator on my Hunt Fish weather forecaster is on its back in without any bars towards success. Gonna try Clearwater on Sunday, never expect anything out of it. So, no matter what, it will not disappoint.
  14. But you wave a rod at them in the stream and they spook.
  15. The original trout I ate was brought to us by a Great Uncle that lived in St. James. They were gutted and cleaned and then frozen. We would thaw, bread in flour, fry in skillet with butter. I ate them that way many years, the butter helped with the taste. Skin always peeled off and the meat would be picked off the bone.
  16. Stockton has all but maybe the Northern Pike, you may have to go over to Pomme De Tere and catch a Musky.
  17. Depending on where you live, in Missouri, you need a nice lake boat, a jet boat for streams, and a 9.9 little boat for limited lakes. At least 2 kayaks, a float tube is a plus too. Providing you are only going to fish with you and your wife..... Otherwise, just get a pontoon and watch the rest. Then there is the retirement option, you need a nasty boat for salt water.
  18. His endorsement only mentioned that there was simple cluster that may be able to be fixed for a nominal charge. There was a donkey word in the embly that he mentioned that flagged his post. That word is in the Bible. It is the first 3 three letters, 1st letter of alphabet followed by 2 19th letter. I may have missed a terets fit since 6 am when I saw his response. But what I saw was a s s embly
  19. Entry fees keep the Riff Raff out. Tweakers can't ante up to come in and pick your pockets. Zoo's are taking the same approach.
  20. Uggh, 1 boat limit??? I have beefed up to a 3 boat system for retirement.
  21. I personally do not chase Indian Trash Dumps, but I have known some that do. 1 has bought property in SE MO that he has tilled every year to have a hunting session. Got screwed when they tilled up a skeleton. Many I pass on the TN river below Pickwick are on the riverbanks after each rise looking for them and scoring bags full of them. We get out of the boat at times to relieve ourselves, but never find anything. Erosion caused by the TRA washes out many banks full of deposits, along with civil war stuff.
  22. My favorite caddis is one with a CDC wing. Brown hackle tail, natural rabbit dub, and a CDC wing. Size 12 or 14 dry fly hook. Brown thread.
  23. I have eat a ton of trout. Fried whole in butter and choking on little bones was the first 1000 lbs. Skinned, filleted and fried, smoked, grilled for the rest. Another half ton freezer burned because I forget they were there. I started tossing them back in the 90's. Keep some now and then for a meal. Never frozen. 11 Point River produces the best firm pink flesh. Like Salmon. Arkansas used to feed a different feed at the Spring River hatchery and it produced a better tasting trout. MO uses something in the hatchery that makes the pale white flesh that tastes like livers.
  24. Not me, have to be the dick Truth needs to be told, no matter how painful.
  25. 1 step closer to retirement....
