Now I know the rest of the story. Back in the 80's, I found this lake. I was never a lake fisher from the get go. But I learned quick, Spring floods ruin streams. You have to have a back up plan. Crane lake came up somehow. Exploratory trip with the canoe hanging out the back of the Mazda pickup, 6' of bed and 17' of boat. You could counter balance it with camping gear and it would not break down the middle "much". Big ole stinger. Crane Lake, miles off the beaten track. Used to have a nice little camping area and a boat ramp. We could drive up after work and pop a tent. Run a trout line out. Build a nice fire and have a good nite camping. Get up, run the line and take care of the catch. Then grab the rods and work the lake in the canoe. Hop out at the dam and fish the stream outflow below the dam. Enjoy youth and life at its best. And bring home a nice mess of fish for the freezer. It was a nice peaceful hide away we could use from time to time. I caught a nice 16 lb channel cat below the spillway on a ultralight and 4 lb test with a buddy assisting. I watched F4 Phantoms out of Lambert buzzing the lake on low altitude passes, they would tip the wings and wave at us when we would wave back from the canoe. Then I made another friend that knew about it too. We tried to sink a boat there one time by accident, he had replaced a battery the night before and busted the livewell fitting letting water gush in. I noticed it out in the middle of the lake when my ankles started getting wet. I have teal hunted it in the morn and took the blind down to fish. I paddled it in the yak one morning in the moonlight to duck hunt one Thanksgiving morn. 35 years of enjoying the lake. Over the years to follow it changed under the NFS management. They closed off the camping and removed the toilet. They failed to keep the meth heads out and let them ruin what was left. They decided the lake needed to be choked with lily pads and coontail grass and planted some. They let the road go. They drained it. Now they just decided to kill it. Exploring the future of Crane Lake. I never knew it was started as a private lake.

High winds toppled my tomato vines Thurs nite, had to re anchor all of them. Picking a few sunsugar and grape tomatoes. Big tomato's are stunted and not growing along with everything else. Heat and dry month ruined most. Wind flattened corn and okra along with all the beans. Cucs starting to produce. Late plant of sugar peas and cucs just coming up, rain helped with them. We had about 4 inches last week.

Spring river sink hole mystery solved
jdmidwest replied to netboy's topic in General Angling Discussion
I thought we solved that mystery a few weeks ago on the first video. I wonder how someone drowned in it. -
And what part of LSD did it not refer too? I had a gay science teacher that really misread that tune, but I can't remember the reference and his mis interp of it was. Nope, wrong song, same teacher. It was the song The Girl with Colitis goes By. Missed the Kalidoscope Eyes part, still a drug ref or a little girls pic.

And that is why Big Bass taste like Carp. Toss those big bass back into the lakes, they have been polluted by Carps.

I have never used any less than 4 lb on any of my spinning reels with great success. I do love green tinted lines over clear or flourescent. The only reason I use finer stuff on Fly Tippets is to match the size of the hook eyelet.

Douche song is Manford Man. The rest of you played the music too loud and confused the earholes in your head Driving along on many fishing trips, I always like to add my own version. Prince, When Doves Fry. Stevie Nicks, Like a One Wing Dove, Flopping around with a busted wing while shes singing. My favorite, in honor of Poot my Grandson. ELO with the line Hooty Hoo in Don't Bring Me Down, I always made it Pooty Poo. And they are not saying Bruce, its Brroosh or something else.

Duane is right. Cabela's probably dumped a starter line on it. It is a $99 combo. The reviews say the rod and reel seem to be good quality, but I doubt if they put much of a line on it. Fish it and see how it goes. Then borrow a reel from someone and try it with a different line. My words of advice, rods do most of the work, then the line. For the most part, the reel just winds the line back on unless you are fishing bigger fish. So spend the most on the rod, match it with a good line, and don't worry about the reel so much.

I remember when Ducky Doty came online. Remember the possum boy son? His avatar of his family was not anything like real life.

I thinks he is some 30 yo kid just screwing around with us all. I remember a post about him chasing copperheads out of his house with no electricity. I quizzed him about power for a computer and internet.

I wish I took some pics of indigenous species I saw last fall at the Roubidoux Spring. We stopped on way back from LOZ and was watching some bait fishing Hispanics tossing into the spring boil. Out came some bubbles and a diver followed by 2 more. Funny sight, first feller came close to getting snagged by one of our south of the border interlopers. And as always, camera and phone in the truck.

Sounds like a road trip. Did he say carp or crap that stinks worse? Pick the hottest day, on a Sat. with the biggest Wake to battle, start at Noon to make it fair for all. Since all competitors carry a dull knife, judges have to pack heat. Just to keep the peace.

Houses aren't cheap either, nor land. When the base price on a truck starts at 30 k, the market needs to start making a cheaper truck. But the government got involved, they have to add safety features, crash protection, get better fuel mileage, and more power out of anemic engines to drive cost up. And still pay the Union workers to make them.

But why did you decide to give up the new sport?

Really sucks to catch a little 28" rainbow on a fly rod in God's country. I am crying in my beers for ya. Sneak back a few Grizz to add to the gene pool of Black bears infesting us. We need a little variety and a predator for the Mountain Lions as they pass thru.

Why would they eat apples when they have all the dog bowls to buffet on?

Stick steer works good, like flying a plane.

Gonna have to try that. Been using a jet boat for 15 years and never tried that. Good use of power trim.

Whites Creek always holds fish. Its a good run with boulders and cover. I wonder what the place will look like 10 years from now. Its ripped up pretty bad. I have never seen a flood uproot trees like that. Blow outs at the end of each straight hole into a bend. All of the downed timber will go somewhere in the floods, probably huge log jams. Erosion will take place and gravel will shift. The river has already been widening out and getting shallow in the riffles. And the water table is falling off some too. I was really amazed at how well the fishing was. Last stock was before Memorial day. We caught nice fish, beautifully colored and "natural". Most were almost golden. It was a rare moment on the river that day. It was a weekend and we had several others to deal with. But the fishing was good. It really is the best place when the weather heats up. Natures air conditioner.

Who want to post reports as articles?

That's profiling, you might have a lawsuit. Try a blackface and run the interstate at hi speed and see if you get pulled over. I read an article the other day about that too. The Highway Patrol is pulling over persons of color more than others. Drive an interstate sometime and see what is passing you on the left hand lane. You will see the pattern. They see it too.

Its because the lawyers are the biggest boozers. I don't mind public drunkedness as long as the motor does not create a killing machine. And I don't have to deal with the drunk, sober. I grew up in a time with fewer laws and less regulations. And that was Eutopia. The stupid crap that happens today did not exist 50 years ago. But wealth and technology has changed, and the display of money seems to be more prolific. Big boats with no other purpose than running around saying I have it seems to be the norm on big waters now days. My boats all have a purpose, sporting that is. Not that I don't enjoy the wind in my face and the water spray seeing the sights on a lake. 99 percent of my boating is hop in, go fishing. People have just went stupid. I could not even gas up today without a pile up in the parking lot. I have seen more accidents in the past month than I have seen in my whole life it seems. Nobody seems to pay attention to anything anymore.

But, if you pull them over for wake, they can check for other violations. Just like the bs seatbelt checks.
