  1. Sounds like Holly really gets around. I hear she is still running the I 70 circuit.
  2. Well done man and thanks for the report!
  3. Yea you old too. 😆
  4. River worms in the summer and a wad of shad guts in the winter. Used to buy shad guts by the pint or quart. Those channels and blues loved those guts. Caught a ten-pound channel casting from the bank between sheets of ice floating down the river. Good old Osage sitting on a bucket at the shell Osage conservation area. Forked stick and everything. Those were the days. Slick slimy gumbo mud. Could not get to the water to wash your hands. You carried a towel to wipe your hands everything smelled like shad guts.
  5. Atta Boy!
  6. Very familiar with those. Still can find them but not in the quantity we used to. We just called them river worms. Anywhere along the rivers with that fertile ground. Layers and layers of run off. The Osage, Marmaton, etc. in our area. There were years where Turman flooded and backed way up the tributaries for weeks and months. This killed some of what we call the worm banks. there was a guy in Schell city that had a bait shop. He had an industrial ditch gas operated tamper. I know about those when laying water line in my early years. You would backfill the ditch and run the thing up and down the ditch in layers getting the soil back in the ditch. Like this Wacker Neuson BS50-2 Two-Stroke Rammer— 11in. Shoe, 2.3 HP, 1-Cylinder Gas Engine, Model# 5100030590 | Northern Tool . Well, the bait guy had one and you can tamp the banks and those worms will come to the top where you can pick them up by the handfuls. We would hit the ground with our worm digging potato fork too bringing some up. When the river came up past the worm bank it was time to go catfishing. Those fish would hit the banks feeding. I am sure @Terrierman can attest to that. Another little-known fact that that worm and its slime will luminesce at night when putting on the hook. Also, you bought them at the bait shop in a fiber oil can. Good grief I am OLD! This brings back so many memories thanks @bfishn
  7. I forgot about anchor material. I will be up there for the trip lakes shindig.
  8. Thanks Rick. You answered the question then. Just wanted to make sure. Appreciate it buddy.
  9. Thank you for the offer, Keith. I sold all my molds and hot pot, or I would be all over that.
  10. Well Cody sounds like a good trip to me. That and since we didn't hear a report yesterday I thought you guys were still stuck on a gravel bar. No @Daryk Campbell Sr to push you off. Thanks for the report and yes a beautiful day for anything outdoors.
  11. Kills deer bad in drought years. I found 18 one year behind the house. Hemorrhagic Disease in White-Tailed Deer - Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife
  12. Friday I couldn't get too excited. I passed feeling like a bum but Saturday we got after it again. Hit the easy button. Was windy. I like that. Birds coming off roost looking for somewhere will be low to the ground. Set up and hunkered in the layouts. About sunrise a single came over really noisy. I called not even a look it was going out of sight when Pat said Marty, Marty, Marty. Over her left shoulder was a dozen birds wings set less than 20 foot high. I said let em land and pick a head. We shot one each. Off the rest went. We repeated that two more times and we were done by 7:55. Picking up more wanting in. All fatties, all with skin and inside fat kept for fat rendering. Hearts too. Not a shot in the breast. One was used for Sichuan fragrant goose today. Pat said get your picture taken. This is heavy. As she finished cleaning the bowl of meat and fat I cleaned up the back and inside of the truck. We are done. Good day, good meal and the best hunting partner I could ever have. VID_20240203_071641592.mp4 Hopefully a wetter summer than the last two for next year.
  13. Then Thursday morning with Pat. Duck season over it's time for geese. Again a very low pond. Thawed and being used. Hard to hide in bare shoreline. Did our best. We came across the high spot to drive down to the pond. Another roost with ducks, canadas and white front geese blowing out. Go figure. Set up and took truck into the sunrise to park. Back down the hill to hide. Mallards for first two hours landing in the goose decoys. Again go figure. Soon many, many Canadas in the air. Most making one pass and circle to spot something wrong. Soon that flight was over as we seen them landing at another place in the distance. A couple hours later they were up an working around. Some seeing us again and some dropping in. We managed four. Pat was not shooting up to par. Rare for that. She said I don't know what was wrong. Good morning regardless. Four fatties with good skin and inside fat for rendering.
  14. Let's finish up the BilletHeads poor waterfowl season. Last week early while things were still frozen up I found some mallards in some of the ice storm and rain run off. Just some sheet water. I set up and got a couple Green heads. Found a second pond which was really low and shallow. It was completely dry last summer and had grown some smartweed. When I seen mallards dropped in there I checked it out. It had a frozen spot and some open water in the smartweed. About 30 mallards on it. I thought there was no way it was a roost so next morning I was there at dark thirty. As I went along the dam to set up there were the mallards flushing. Could hardly believe it. I went ahead and set up. The only open water was the small roost spot. I waded out and ploped a half dozen decoys. Hid in the smartweed. A few came back and looked things over. Water froze back up twice even though I kept it stirred twice. If you can see by the video what I had. VID_20240131_082344796.mp4
  15. So Phil you thinking the 24 and 25th for next year? If so I had better get our room
  16. Yes ditto on what Daryk said. Glad you stopped by for a visit. Good to see you.
  17. Too funny Daryk! I do things like this all the time but blame Pat for hiding stuff from me. Most things end up being right under my nose where I put it. Never found in my wader boot yet but there is still time for that to happen.
  18. Won't be long!
  19. Which brings me to @Daryk Campbell Sr. Tell All about losing your lures and flys, then buying more because they were gone. Just where did they show up? Maybe what happens at Taney fest stays at Taney fest 😁
  20. Ok, ok good save there Milo. Poor excuse is better than none. 😆

    Super Bowl

You will not see me there either. Besides food is much better and cheaper here at home.
  22. Yes, we heard you shared quite a bit about this woman when you were at the Cheeky Monkey bar and grill. Maybe you should share this with us that did not get the scoop. Also does this woman know about you crashing the bachelorette party at the same bar? 😆 Do tell Milo!

I ate soooo much food last couple of days at Taney fest we just had baked taters for our main meal today.
  24. Congrats Daryk on that first trout on the fly. Well done. What a great time we had!
