It sure is but it is sometimes the best you can do. My Mom did pretty good after dad passed. Many years actually. Then mild dementia set in. We managed that for a time. It got worse. She would forget to eat and if she did could not remember what she ate. Fell often. If I couldn't get her on the phone I instantly got sick to my stomach. Then it was a race to get over there to check on her. Sometimes it was ok as she had lost the phone. Sometimes not. One fall I finally called the ambulance. She spent a few days in hospital and then in rehab home. It was time to make the move. Boy she was mad, really mad. After partially accepting it she began to thrive in assisted living. Now she realizes she cannot go home. She has friends, bingo, Yahtzee, crafts. She is safe, I sleep better at night. They actually get fed well and I take some of my extra garden produce to the cooking staff.
