  6. MISSOURI ANGLER CATCHES STATE-RECORD FISH IN STOCKTON LAKE Date: October 18, 2024, 2:33 pm A Missouri angler accidentally caught a Missouri-state-record fish out of an area lake Sunday, October 13th. According to a news release from the Missouri Department of Conservation, Ryan Young of Buffalo caught a 55-pound, nine ounce black buffalo out of Stockton Lake with a rod-and-reel. With the catch, Young broke the previous record of 53 pounds, which was held since 1989. Young was going for crappie in Stockton Lake with a group who had nicknamed him "The Trashman," as he was catching everything besides crappie. Once Young hooked into the black buffalo, it took around thirty minutes and three men to get the fish into the boat. Black buffalo are considered sucker fish, similar to carp, who live on the bottom of bodies of water. It is the fifth state-record fish recorded in 2024. Copyright 2024 Harbit Communications Inc. 7. Very good Testament to the product Dutch. I may need to get some for my conventional tackle.
  8. Two songs, two reasons, One thing led to another while shooting air rifles with my Uncle John again today. We created a tomato massacre shooting. Video attached, https://1drv.ms/v/s!ArqCewEjZn9UgrR2b4hYaIweGCNu9A?e=rxNvG4 So, as I looked at the carnage it brought a song to mind. The Tomato Vendetta by Mason Williams. This got me to thinking about my dad Charles Henry Horn. He bought this album because of one song again by Mason Williams. "Classical Gas" Well I fell in love with this song also as a young person. The tomato Vendetta was also on this Album titled Mason Williams Hand Made. Funny how something you see can snowball into a memory that means so much. Thanks dad I really miss you and how you shaped and molded me. Classical Gas, Tomato Vendetta
  9. Those spots are nice there. Fatties for sure.
  10. Evening before last did some pesting. Was quite the hatch of groundhog here. 35 yards with a .25 44 grain hollow point. Went down like a sack of potatoes. Tits up. These are adult big person toys.Had another show up yesterday evening but it seen me. This last one made four taken care of. Get out and enjoy this fantastic weather. Winter will be here before you know it.
  11. Yes another wonderful day here in BilletHeadVille also. Spent the last three days with my 79 or 80 year old Uncle John. Made another trip here from Belleville Illinois for a visit. Does this twice a year spring and fall. He is getting old enough shuffles as he walks. Fingers don't work so good etc but all he wants to do is shoot our PCP air rifles. This time he brought three. I got out my best two. As long as I keep air in the SCBA tank and his gun tank filled and targets up down range he is elated. Picky eater but Pat knows what he likes. Most of the time trying different pellets and slugs for performance. Then sighting in with the best. I and my rifles know what we like but since John shoots very little he forgets. Well this afternoon we were splitting playing cards at 30,40 and then 50 yards. Yes you heard right cutting them in half sideways. I made a jig to hold a card. It was a hoot. Wind didn't help but slugs are not as effected like pellets in the wind. The cardholder and Uncle John in his happy place.

I was told it will be hosted again next year in the same theater. Great night out for Pat and me. Good date night and we will go again. Yes, raffles Pat won a Yeti Rambler which she uses daily. I would also encourage anyone to go.

    What's Cooking?

Once again mother Earth provides. Scored on a big hen of the woods (Maitake). What to do, what to do? We have eaten it many ways but decided to search for something different. So today our first choice was grilled hen of the woods with ginger soy vinaigrette. This would be today's meat. . The big shroom, Breaking it down missing the slices that will be the mushroom steaks. Let the grilling begin. Between flips brushing on the vinaigrette. Side of sweet corn froze up from this summer. This was very good. Maitake has medicinal properties. Hoping I didn't Cook it out.
  20. Great trip and report John 😃.
  21. Making plans for this one. Had to saute a snack in the meantime.
