  2. Vernon what you really need is some white Power Pro 8/1 then you would have the bases covered.
  3. Let’s see a pic of that boat.😎
  4. I learned the deep bite and braid when a crappie friend took me winter fishing several years ago. The fish were 30+ feet deep. All I had was mono. We caught 46. He caught 40 of them. I just could not feel the bite.
  5. When I tie marabou I lay down thread on the hook shank, cut about a third of what is needed, wrap it down with a couple of wraps, add another third, wrap it, then finish with what I need and place it where it needs to go, lay on a bunch of tight wraps, a few whips and call it good. I usr Danvil flat waxed line so I can pull it really tight and not break it.
  6. Congrats. I’m glad someone is getting out there. I’d really like to be pounding the water.
  7. When I started tying jigs I didn’t paint them either. I only started painting them when other people started wanting them.
  8. The rivers normally warm up first.

That was the most bizarre game I’ve ever seen.

    Anybody ?

With all that I am hearing none of us may be fishing for a while. It has come up a couple of feet in the last 24 hours.
  14. I’ve seen them all winter long on the Big Sac on warm sunny days.

Sorry to hear about your issue. Let us know when you will be back on the water. I went out of Hartley. I fished to Mutton. I had 1 bite 48 feet down. A crappie on a spoon. I had 4 bites on a dimiki in the 40 foot range but didn’t get a hookup with it. No A rig bites at all. I think I will go back to the rock next time. The water I fished used to give up some good winter walleye but not this time.

We shall see what happens. I have had limited success with my under spins on Stockton. Maybe iI need something other than a fluke on them.

Thanks for the input. I am not a blade bait fisherman. I'm a spooner but I plan to use the damiki rig a bit as well as some hair jigs. I'll be in he Big Sac.

I have not heard anything lately. Is anyone fishing down there? I want to do some spooning Monday and would appreciate some idea of depths to start looking.
  20. I can only address item #2. When I tie maribou or or bucktail jigs I want a jig with no collar. It is way easier to tie and get a good looking product. The head shape and hook size varies depending on how it is going to be used.http://smg.photobucket.com/user/JigMan/media/DSC00039.jpg.html?sort=2&o=4
  21. Me too. The Ulterra and the options with my Humminbirds is the best set up I have ever had.
  22. I applaud your tenacity Quillback. I couldn’t make it that long. I don’t gut hook anymore with Ned than shaky. If you know how to remove them there is no problem.
  23. I used to run braid with leaders. After a couple of years of frustration I quit! Now I use straight braid, monofilament, or fluorocarbon line depending on the application. I only ever use one knot. It is easy to tie and quick. I can tie it in about 12 seconds with gloves on. It is called the 16/20 or Pitzen. I have been using it since some of you guys were still in diapers. https://www.netknots.com/fishing_knots/pitzen-knot
  24. Please fish Stockton and do that with the drum.
  25. I don’t know why there would be anything wrong with it. I believe that is the purpose of the forum. By the way those look amazing.
