  1. It is dingy with small floating debris. I fished Piney. It was tough. I only had 11 bites all day. I threw the swimbait a lot and got no love. I threw Ned had 2 bites and caught 1 of them. Shaky was by far the best. I had 9 bites and caught 6 of them. They were in about 10 fow. I couldn’t find any deep. The best bait was a ZinkerZ in coppertreuse rigged weedless on a VMC 2/0 hook.
  2. It may be a generational thing. For many years the James was polluted by chemicals which fed into it from Wilson’s Creek via Hoffman Taft. But that is just a guess.
  3. So have you bought the one you saw and liked or are you just planning ahead?
  4. Nice going Jeff. I had a trip planned but had to cancel, vertigo episode.
  5. I agree much of the time. I gave my daughter a steer when my grandson was about 10. He wanted to name it. He called it lasagna. He and his wife still name the bucks that they see on game cams, like jerky and summer sausage. He has always been practical.
  6. top_dollar thanks for the explanation. I’m not sure I grasp it all but I do feel better informed.
  7. I haven’t specifically but I fish up there a lot with baits that they bite on Stockton and have never caught one. Several years ago we caught some short ones in Flat Creek but none lately.
  8. I’m glad you got out there. The people that you didn’t see must be fishing Stockton. Saturday I was down by the dam and it looked like a summer number of boats. They were everywhere and that is not normal for that end of the lake.
  9. That’s what it says. The way it did the hard water spots has me wondering about the motor finish.
  10. I went to clean the accumulated water spots off my motor and my hydrochloric acid bottle sprayer was broken so I looked around my cleaning supplies and found lemon scent all purpose cleaner. I thought what the heck and sprayed it on the motor, let it set a couple of minutes, hit it with a shop brush, then rinsed it off. Much to my surprise the water spots along with the dirt is gone. I looked at the ingredients and found: oclyl decyl dimethyl ammonium chloride dioclyl dimethyl ammonium chlorinide didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride What do I have here?
  11. We launched at Schooner Creek when there was a ramp. A young couple with a red aluminum boat and a white suv came in as we were leaving. When we came back by a boat trailer was floating. As we got to it there was a white suv directly below it and no boat in sight. The young couple was talking to a guy in the parking lot. After we finished fishing and pulled out everything was gone.
  12. How about these? https://www.ebay.com/itm/20-1-2-oz-NO-ROLL-FLAT-SINKER-FISHING-WEIGHTS-Free-S-H/264725249188?chn=ps&norover=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=264725249188&targetid=1263104805766&device=t&googleloc=1020569&campaignid=14859008593&mkgroupid=130497710760&rlsatarget=pla-1263104805766&abcId=9300678&merchantid=113737143&gbraid=0AAAAAD_QDh_H2uzv3JVBo3TYGHrqljngI&gclid=CjwKCAiA85efBhBbEiwAD7oLQNwfiCNYt1p5L0h-4SxZ35SZfSlUNphKp237SXoKEYdESNEqi9fGCRoCayIQAvD_BwE&pageci=994f384f-f07b-4ec4-ac1d-7fbc5c1d857c&redirect=mobile
  13. I see the lake is coming up. Is there a lot of float debris? Has the courtesy dock been adjusted?
  14. Yep and it only takes a few seconds to get the job done.
  15. Looking around for material all I could find was floral wire. Since I don’t know how you use it I did a hook anyway.
  16. I experimented a little. I only have 2 types of hooks that aren’t jig or worm. I tried some coated 45# surflon. It was way too stiff to wrap around the hook shank. I doubled some 17# fluorocarbon and snelled it. That may be an answer for you depending on how strong your line needs to be.
  17. I looked at some videos. None had the big loop like the Gammy. Do you need that big loop? How do you attach it?
  18. I don’t know the cause but open the lid and heat it for a bit in the microwave will make it liquid again.
  19. It’s that time alright. I haven’t cut my asparagus yet. When I do I’ll need my trailer to haul it off and it is loaded down with firewood.
  20. I’ve never even seen anything like that. What does one do with them?
  21. I think Japan has passed them and has taken the number one spot.
  22. Nice ones. I’m jealous. I had to go to Stone County today so I swung by Cape Fair. Roads for the most part were clear until the Corps line. From there on it was a solid sheet of ice. Since I am not mad at my truck I turned around.
  23. If I didn’t know better I’d think you were my son-in-law.
  24. I have one but it is not for sale. However, since you haven’t done that kind of thing, you are welcome to come to my place and pour some to see if you really want to take the plunge. I will warn you in advance there is no end once you begin. The molds along the top are what I have left after I cleaned house a few years ago.
  25. They waited until it cleared land and shot it down over water.
