You fish out of a vintage Ranger Red and Silver that is a beautiful ride. I cant remember the year. I have an 87 360V single console 175 Merc, single axle trailer. Was a high end boat in its day, had in-dash and bow mounted flashers Lowrance. Factory custom cover, carpeted boxes, the handle rails and all. Everything works, if I was to install new flasher transducers they would work but someone cut the cords for who knows why. A guy I work with were looking at the NEW Ranger 55th Anniversary Edition 521R Limited Edition 300 Merc Power poles, 3 12 Lowrance graphs, live target, heated seats, heated steering wheel, air ride seats and more electrical gadgets than you could mention, $114,000. This made me wonder what my boat sold for when new? I was also wondering what the chances are that that New $114,000 boat will be still being able to be fished out of in 35 years from now in 2057 and have everything working or everything able to be repaired with parts that could be purchased. I am not saying mine is all original parts have been replaced, when possible directly from Ranger, or by getting the parts that Ranger bought, ie flowrite valves. No my boat aint the prettiest or the fastest but I can still catch fish, I have upgraded the trolling motor, and the graphs, added hydraulic steering and a few other items, and other than not handling rough water like that 22 foot bass yacht I think I can fish with most everyone and be competitive. Any input or thought welcomed. TR

Yes it is, I am running an 87 360V 175 Merc. Used to be that pretty but 15 years of solid 3 to 4 days a week has worn out my gel on the top cap. Upgraded trolling motor to an ultrex and soon to have a garmin live upgrade. She can catch them. Ain't the fastest but fish can't swim over 60.

What Ranger is that in that picture?

Thank you for the info

Those are really beautiful examples of Table Rock Bass. Fat, healthy, amazing colors, it just shows how good a fishery we have to use. Thank you for showing them off to those of us stuck at work.

Very pretty fish, it changed for us on Saturday it got tougher and windy. Great job with the catch and spending time with your dad in law.

I fished the dam area Saturday as well and it was the worst I have seen in a long time. It felt to me like trying to fish LOZ in May or being on Stockton or Truman when a mouse sneezes in the right direction. We did keep saying if the wind would pick up it might generate a better bite, as you know the wind is your friend. I took a beating in my 18 Ft Ranger.

Thank you guys for the searching and leads, found after some investigation the failure was not as catastrophic as initially thought. All cylinders had even compression but found the main shaft bearing seized and a cracked lower unit case. Still bad but better than 5 to 7 grand.

Just hope it lands softly, Yamaha is an option as well.

Thank you for info. All help is appreciated and any lead will be checked in. Thanks guys

Wrench, I am aware of your feelings on Mercury engines. But I am looking for a used 175 / 200 Mercury motor. I have an 87 Mercury now that has run flawlessly till today, and she has decided to have a catastrophic failure. 1987 to 2000 is the general vintage I am trying to find. I am willing to look at salvage yards if you know of any or complete boat that might have good motor. Any help greatly appreciated. Any other forum member that might be in the know on this your help would be appreciated as well.

I have used these people, they are located in Springfield MO. You can save shipping cost by dropping it off at there Sunshine Street facility, they fixed a screen that had delaminated and fell out on a Helix 9. No issues or problems. Good people to deal with and had a quick turn around.

I would look into Nutech Jigs, they are local business that builds a great jig. -
I just want to tell you guys about a local business that is advertising on the forum. Jigs4Bass, Mike, he is an awesome guy and builds an amazing product at an even better price. I saw his add and looked up his website, looked it over and made an order. They just arrived and the chatterbaits he made are unbelievable in quality and workmanship. Wire tied by hand premium components full skirts that flare in water. I just got them in today and went to the river on lunch to test one out. they are as nice as a $15 jackhammer but only cost $4.00. Painted heads super sharp hooks, silicone skirts wire tied and oring to flare the skirt. After getting these in I inquired about a custom spinnerbait color and special blades, his response absolutely no problem, this head with this skirt color add in this accent color on top this color on bottom and special skirt material this blade exactly what I wanted no problem what ever you want was what He said. No extra charge for custom work. I have never met Mike but I will be buying from him in the future and highly recommend him for all your guys needs. He has a fast turn around from order to delivery as well. Also very reasonable shipping rates. Could not ask for a better transaction.

Chevy difference to GMC trucks
TRRANGER replied to Maverickpro201's topic in General Angling Discussion
Yes, it is mostly trim option and badges. Depending on the year it makes the difference in options available. GMC has a red back light on the interior and Chevy has a blue back light on things. Any yes Bowties are cooler. 😎 GMC = Gay Mans Chevrolet. -
I agree, TFO rods are top quality and reasonably priced. I have 8 or 9 of them and several that are 8 or 9 years old and have fished them very hard.
-
I personally love them and love to catch fish on them, it is one of my favorite ways to catch bass. I do spend time weighting and have multiple ways to have them present, head up head down and flat suspend or sink and rise depending on the mood of the fish. Spro McStick and an old Excalibur that I cant find any more of are all good fish catching options. I cant bring myself to pay that kind a money for a megabass. Landed some big fish in winter on 8 lb florocarbon and RC jerkbaits.

Sunday tinkering and maintenance
TRRANGER replied to gotmuddy's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I waited on a windshield for 76 days from order to delivery, luckily when it arrived it was in one piece, had to order 3 in order to get one on another job we had going. -
I told them almost the same thing, it was a younger lady and she said I would get a ticket. When I left that afternoon there was an older lady driving around on a golf cart she was just as nice as could be asked if I had a good day smiled and drove on. No ticket but have never been back since that week.
