  1. Chunking and winding cranks is some times a misinformation for guys that are learning. You have to give that bait a twitch a pull a stop a go. With lures like the crawler and wart a lot of times the bite is very subtle when fishing this time of year, it just quits vibrating, or you hang it up on a rock or wood when you let your line go slack to get it to float off watch you line before you start reeling again, fish and usually the better ones will be waiting. Just another tip you almost cant reel one to slow, get it down and slow down and let it hit and bang into everything you can.
  2. I had braided line get wrapped around the prop shaft of my 87 V175 Mercury. It ruined the seal and filled it with water, they don't run for very long that way. I priced parts to repair, almost $900.00. I bought an SEI Lower Unit for my Mercury and have had no trouble at all. I figure like dblades I could by parts and still have a used up housing with a broken skeg or get a new unit with a warranty and If I have to by another I am still cheaper in the long run. I found good reviews online and have not had a bit of trouble. The people I dealt with were helpful and friendly and mine came powder coated black and fit like a glove with no issues. I am usually a buy OE guy on most things and for my 87 Ranger 360V I still buy a lot of my parts direct from Ranger and have them shipped from the factory to me. For what it is worth I am very happy with mine. I fish a lot and fish all winter so it is not a garage queen either.
  3. There has to be some judgement applied This is the most insightful thing I think I have heard in all the discussions on gun laws, mental health laws, and how to fix our societal ills. Most of our society lacks this basic skill. NO judgement and No common sense. How many children are dying each year from cell phones texting and driving, yet they are not outlawed. It is simple to stop the cell phone, if the phone is moving faster than a human can walk it will not work. the technology is in the phone already. Yet we do nothing, Judgement and common sense, mass shootings are all happening in GUN Free Zones When these tragedies happen it is heard God Help Us, maybe if they let him in the door in the first place he might. We are debating and making it legal for a boy to use the girls bathroom and a girl to join the Boy Scouts, everything is ok. Smurfs say lah lah lah all day is the problem with our nation. It is ok to say no to kids, Its ok to not be good at something, everyone does not need to play, its called life. It aint fair deal with it, teach kids to deal with there problems face to face like we used to, out behind the school with a bloody lip and a black eye. It is ok to lose, you don't have to like it but you have to learn to lose to be good at winning. I learned more in my life from screwing up than I ever did from getting it right. I am 44 years old and my dad is 69 and he probably can still whoop me, and I have been bigger than my mom since I was 12 but she can tell me sit down and by god I do. Its all about respect, for your elders yourself and GOD. We seem to have forgotten the Golden Rules of Life. Actions have consequences. Laws will stop nothing, it is illegal to kill but yet it happens, it is illegal to drive 65 in a 55mph zone but it happens. it is illegal to steal and it happens. The worst punishment I ever got was the time my mother said she was disappointed in me, That hurt worse than any whippen I ever got, and I got my fair share and if I got one that I may not have deserved at the time it made up for something I got away with. Mom and dad taught me this, before you do something ask yourself this, IF mom or dad was there to watch you would you Do it anyways. Amazing how many things that kept me from doing.
  4. On that swimbait you might try a little dye. SSSSHHHHHH. You did not hear it from me.
  5. I agree with Champ on the depth thing and the hook not being natural. But there are times when the jighead is to much weight due to shallow water and a super slow retrieve that the hook option is better. Was fishing a swimbait with a guy in the back of my boat I had a light jig head and was getting my ars handed to me. I just turned around and looked at his set up, belly weight wide gap hook and a slower retrieve was what the fish wanted. I did not have a weighted hook but had wide gap. I would get hung up if tried to get that jigheaded rig that slow and the fish would not hit mine if it was fast enought. I really think the Kietech has the best action and the most natural presentation.
  6. And the Darwin Award goes to...
  7. Really nice work and super neat rack.
  8. Sorry about the Shingle, I had a friend who suffered with them and I wish that on no one. May you heal quickly.
  9. Me too. Wrench, never met a cookie I would not try at least once.
  10. Sorry to hear of the passing of a true friend, they are all missed and have provided long lasting memories we never forget.
  11. Ok, adding another question, Beaver Lake is the beginning of the White River Chain of lakes, correct? Then will the White River Boarder permit work on Beaver Lake, I am a Missouri resident and have MO fishing, trout and WRB permits. What do I have to get to fish Beaver Lake.
  12. You know the best part about this is he had every chance to keep this a secret. He is alone on the ramp no body around just shed clothing as far as you have to make the swim and get you boat back, tell no one, and have forever plausible deniability. DENY DENY DENY. I think it makes me like the guy, proves they are human and screw up just as bad as we do when we get excited about fishing.
  13. When in doubt, always chose the boat. Your wife is never gonna be "Happy" no matter what you do. At least if you have a boat you can be happy and get away from her when she is mad.
  14. Ok, thank you could not find it in the manual.
  15. I have a hummingbird 798 CI that I have mounted on the front of my boat I want to just use this for the mapping program as I have purchased a new helix 9 to mount at the front as well. Do I have to have a transducer mounted to the 798 to get it to function out of simulation mode.
  16. The truck in the picture did not learn the first time. Momo missed this time
  17. Thanks for the advise, and help will let you know. I not really interested in running that far, I was just trying to confirm the information I had figured. I understand the mental aspect. I just need to learn the area. I need to put my head down and concentrate and shut up and fish.
  18. No March 10.
  19. I just have no experience up there, I have not spent time up there to know where the good brushpiles and docks are located. I have never been able to catch fish in muddy water. and that is all I have ever found up there. I will take suggestions and am willing to learn.
  20. I have a tournament in March and for some reason they decided on Larry R Gale as a take off location. I hate fishing cold dirty water and that is all I have ever found up there. My question is this, how far in rough river miles is it to PB2. I am much more confident in my ability to locate a solid limit in the cleaner water up around Aohonna area and around PB2 but not sure how far it is by river. Thanks in advance. TR
  21. I agree with Wrench on this as being a load of BS, they have ruined small compact loaders with this emissions crap. A marine engine with this will be a horrible idea.
  22. We paid out the ars for this idiots arrogance, now we are gonna have to pay this out through the nose. This is a dam smart lawyer, getting his bills paid with the patrol higher ups being too blame. It seems like the old saying the truth will set you free, applies. They tried to cover there butts and exposed the tax payers to pay the bills. Government at its best.
  23. Dave, I will gladly add your unspoken prayer request to my list and pray for whatever you and whoever you need it for is in need of. May God embrace your request and take all worry and fret from your mind as he is there to deal with what troubles us, if we can just give it over to him he will take care of all things in HIS NAME.
  24. Yall, need to check out through Bassmaster website for the "Man Caves", and check out G-mans boat storage garage and his peg boards.
  25. Which model of 898, side imaging down imaging???? C or CI ???? Can you add pictures of transducer and head unit????
