The wife and I attended a socially distanced block party of 10 tonight. Everyone brought a small side dish and their protein. I made fishburgers and peach salsa. I also brought the flat top and did the flipping. By the time I cooked our fishburgers, there was hardly enough peach salsa to introduce to the burgers.

The beautiful wife made a cake with dreamsicle icing.

Life is good.

Undeterred, sorta, I cleaned the crock and stones really well, including some bleach in there, and started some sauerkraut.  Two heads of cabbage, green leaves removed, shredded, and 3 tablespoons of pickling salt into the crock. Topped with a little bottled water to cover.

Been about 4 weeks so I jarred up the kraut. Got almost 3 quarts from two medium-sized cabbage heads. Flavor is very good. Quite a bit crunchier than store bought kraut. I think we’ll do Reubens this week.

Windy, threatening to rain day here in Tulsa. So I put a thick pork shoulder steak in the egg to smoke about 10:30 this morning. Now at 4:30 the pig is in the "stall." I have chosen, like last time, not to wrap but to see it through. That way I have more burnt ends, my beautiful wife's favorite part.

Tonight hand made burgers with swiss cheese, onion, dill pickles, ketchup, homemade mayonnaise. Served with a side of homemade cole slaw.

Have done Reubens the last couple days with the ho'made sauerkraut. Really tasty and a nice change  from the sandwiches we typically have here.

Who would have thought, but we made something with the leftover crab in the fridge . Actually it was the four live crabs in our crisper drawer that showed up Friday afternoon. We steamed the crabs and made a soup with milk, heavy cream, crab meat, JO's seasoning, S&P, and a packet of Knorr's hollandaise sauce mix. Brought to a boil and reduced to a simmer. The sauce mix thickens up the soup and adds a bit of lemon flavor. We have a winner in this one. Only tweak that I might do next time is maybe add a little sherry.

Had a ham and swiss panini sandwich with the soup.
