Finished product, just slightly over done, but since 2 of the 4 at the table don't like rare I guess it was about perfect.  I do miss my wife's grandma's dressing but man o man was the roast delicious.  I also learned 2 things, rib roast is pretty dang easy to fix, and if you start drinking 50/50 coke/crown with a splash of lime juice in an attempt to finish of a bottle of crown to make room for the new Christmas ine, things get "confusing" by lunch.

Hey Mitch.  I just think your daughter is so darn cheery and bright.  Makes me smile every time I see her pic in your signature.

Prime cut fillet mignon and beer for me and my boys.  Girls are having pasta con broccoli.  Lots of garlic bread too.

Then we're headed to Playa Del Carmen Tuesday for the week.  Hopefully I'll have a successful bone fishing report from Cozumel.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

While Nancy and I were visiting her mother in New Hampshire, family friends made pierogi. Because they are wonderful sweet women, and because I whimpered and pleaded, Nan and I found some in our freezer when we came home.. Half are traditional potato and cheese stuffed (Ruskie) and the other half has sauerkraut. I have caramelized some onion and will also top with sour cream. One traditional method is to boil the dumpling until done, drain it, and fry it in butter until golden brown. I know of no way to improve on that.

I have some great Nueskes brats to grill to go with the pierogi and a small bit of chopped salad.

Beer or ale recommendations?

Pilsner Urquell.  Or any other good Pilsner that you can find.  I recently had Goose Island Four Star Pils and it was very good.  The guys that like more hops in their beer would prefer it over Pilsner Urquell.

We're having tomato basil soup and grilled cheese sandwiches made on Oroweat Health Nut bread tonight.  That is the best bread I have ever found in the bread aisle - makes outstanding grilled sandwich.

Thank you for this suggestion. I will start looking.
