Terrierman Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 I love peas. Especially canned peas in tuna casserole with potato chips crumbled on top. Maybe Monday after we take possession of some egg noodles on Sunday. That's when our take out grocery order will be ready. Yes, we're taking it that serious. As to what's cooking, lots of things getting found in the freezer. Tonight it is sloppy joe from the last time grandkids were here. No buns so it's going on top of some pasta wheels that also need to rotate out of inventory. And a green salad for the side assuming lovey is cooperative there. Not suffering yet.

Terrierman Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 I had a post typed out. Out of respect for my friend Phil Lilley and people who can read and understand the English language but are offended by extremely graphic usage, this is all you will get. Suffice to say it came from my USMC days. So use your imagination. snagged in outlet 3 1
ness Posted March 20, 2020 Author Posted March 20, 2020 It’s kinda funny all this hatred for peas. Growing up my mom would serve us LeSeur peas from the silver labeled can. Didn’t love them, didn’t hate them. Got married and Grandma Vi introduced me to creamed peas. Canned peas with a roux and a little of the juice from the can and some milk. I still love those and make them occasionally. But now it’s generally small frozen peas and they’re not cooked at all, just thawed or thrown in at the end. And, I like a split pea and ham soup. Now that I think about it I wish I had grabbed a bag of split peas for the quarantine. We’ve got the ham. Dang it. Love a good, tender, stringless snap pea or a snow pea in a stir fry or salad. Usually grow snap peas in my little garden. Now—canned Lima beans... Johnsfolly 1 John

Lately we have found LeSeur peas with pearl onions AND with onions and mushrooms. Canned vegetables only get so good and LeSeur of any kind make that bar. But. For the truly best peas you need a grandmother. One who knows how to do and clean fresh boiled onions. And who has access to a decent quantity of English peas and knows how to parboil. And who knows how to make a proper béchamel (white creamy cheese sauce). Add all those up and combine and THEN you have the best peas ever. rps and Johnsfolly 2
