The Great Lakes Brown caught in Arcadia Lake was on a flatfish(pearl) by a young guy in a 12' flat bottom. He was targeting lake trout. You never know, that's why we go out.

OP read Mojorigs post again.

Your right I jumped the gun. When I seen from the bank and knew it was in a river it brought back some fond memories. There use to be a hole many year ago just on the inside of the mouth of the Huzzah Creek. It was a shallow wide shoal then just dropped straight down into a hole about about 8 ft deep. In the winter the Rainbows would move down the Huzzah all the way to the mouth of the creek. By accident I caught one of the first trout I ever caught casting a purple and pink old creme worm( that shows how many years ago that was) into that shoal and letting it roll into that hole. I did that almost every time I was in that area in the winter. I never caught many trout but I caught a few real nice ones. If I was that guy and did something like that on the White River I would keep it handy in the back of my mind. I am going to Taney in May to take my grand kids to Silver Dollar City. If I fish at all it will be from the bank near Falls Creek where we rented a house. If I do fish you can bet I might be rolling some standard bass sized plastic over the bottom hoping for a big trout.

I think someone mentioned the current World Record being from the Great Lakes? That record was so 2010... :XD:

Current record is apparently from New Zealand in 2013... http://www.fieldandstream.com/blogs/field-notes/2013/07/kiwi-angler’s-42-lb-brown-trout-official-world-record

I didn't know this, I just looked it up so please know that I am being totally sarcastic with my opening remark. GREAT FISH FROM THE WHITE. Congratulations to the chap that caught it.

I, and I bet a bunch of other folks on here, would be lying if I said I wasn't jealous. I've chased monster browns on the White for 20 years and have very little to prove it. :have-a-nice-day:

I spent 3 months in New Zealand fly fishing, surfing, etc. The fish are big and smart. I spent lots of time fishing with limited results. I thought since I had done very well fly fishing while living in Colorado for 5 years, that I would kill the fish in NZ. Not the case, even the fly shops and guides had a different idea of what a good day is compared to here. There is some absolutely huge trout there and probably the next couple world records will come from NZ. The trout in the lakes were about the most that I got into them. I would find a drainage after a rain and catch some decent fish.

It was a huge fish. Regardless of who caught it and how and why and whether he deserved it or earned it or any other thing we can come up with to minimize his accomplishment. He caught a monster where we all fish!

Unfortunately, the big fish did not return to the water. We also have no proof that this fish was at the end of its lifespan. We have no idea.

We all get lucky sometime. Nothing wrong with it. That's life.
