Al Agnew Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Really sorry to hear that. I first "met" Wayne on the old Riversmallies board, and met him in person at what I think was the first Smallmouth Alliance Rodeo at Gasconade Hills. Great guy. We never got to fish together after that, though I ran into him a couple of times later on. I'll miss his wisdom on the boards. My thoughts go out to his family.
ness Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I noticed Wayne was absent in recent months. I always thought he had a good perspective on things, so I checked his status every so often. Seemed like he was checking in, so I let it go thinking he had other things going on. I think I checked within the last week or so. Wayne, thanks for your contribution here. Rest in peace, man. I hope the family and friends know he was a special voice here. John
Harps Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Wayne was a good man. Floated with him once, hung out a couple other times at gatherings, wish I could have fished with him more. A member of MFU, he was our senior member. He had at least one story, maybe three for every scenario. A wealth of experience. We'll miss you Wayne.
ollie Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I kept emailing him with no luck as well. I was afraid of this. I met Wayne as well on Riversmallies a long time ago. I think we did a rodeo on Kings the year before Ham did. That was the first time I met him in person. Smart man too, he was a retired electrician who had spent many years in Oregon and had fished many streams there. We got to fish together at least 4 times together and I enjoyed every time we met. On the Elk he came close to catching a 20" smallie that I witnessed got caught up in the brush. The one that got away I suppose. Didn't bother him though. I imagine he caught his share of big fish throughout the years of his life. Always a fun time to be around too. Had some great stories from the past and loved to hear yours as well. I will miss you Wayne. R.I.P. Phil do you have any contact info for his family? I wouldn't mind sharing a story or two with them. ness 1 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
laker67 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Even though you may never meet, people here, become friends. Wayne had lots of knowledge to share. No doubt he was a fine sportsman. Prayers to the family. We will miss you Wayne. ness 1
ness Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Funny how I'm sad at the passing of a guy I never met face-to-face, who I couldn't pick out of a line up, or who's voice I wouldn't recognize. Kinda makes me think I take too much stuff for granted. laker67, Deadstream, Seth and 1 other 4 John
Danimal Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Thoughts and prayers for his family and friends. Always enjoyed reading his posts -- rest in peace Wayne. RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
fishinwrench Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 One of the best for sure. Wayne logged a lot of river miles. Never in a hurry and his mood and tone of voice was always consistent. Ham and Ollie, he always spoke well of you two, and shared some things he learned from you guys with me
Quillback Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Sorry to hear of his passing. He and I always bantered back and forth in the sports forum about KC QB Alex Smith.
Guest Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Sad to hear. Seemed like a great guy. My thought go out to his family and friends.
