Greasy B Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I took this picture behind our hotel in southern Illinois. Two weeks ago we heard a pretty good roar but seen very few on the water, this weekend the sound were deafening and the bugs were all over the water. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

Every time I walk by they hear me and are looking, BilletHead ness and Lancer09 2 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Jerry Rapp Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 have not heard a single one in the Arcadia Valley area.
Seth Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 I never did see any cicadas this year. Was this big hatch supposed to only be in certain areas of the country?
fishinwrench Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 My wife just got back from Omaha and said they were thick up there. I have only seen 2 here.
BilletHead Posted July 13, 2015 Author Posted July 13, 2015 We are done here. For about three weeks now. The annual big ones are out now but it is so much less noisy wit them gone. Now I am infested with jap beetles. This is the first time for them. Old plug Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 We had a lot of them into the Bradford Pares along the road by our Elks Lodge last year. When they bore there hole for eggs it allows some kind of bateria to get i. there that can kill a tree but twkes a few years. I seen signs of it in all those along the road late last summer. I was told by a plant doctor that there was no known cure for that. Sometimes it clears itself up.
ness Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 We got them up here in KC, but they've been done for a few weeks. Never were right around my house though. Always heard them somewhere else. John

I hate spraying but we had no choice. Id take cicadas any day over those little green devils.
BilletHead Posted July 14, 2015 Author Posted July 14, 2015 Stinking japanese beetles and I mean stink. While it was rainy here this morning the beetles were real timid and you could just pluck them from the wisteria and put them in a jar. Soon I had a jar full to pitch in the koi pond for the fish to eat. I kept smelling something until I determined how they find each other. By smell! It was then I threw them into the pond and the surface boiling started until they were gone, BilletHead "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!"
