See, that's the common misconception... That IF you don't believe the words of the bible then you must be a drunken thief (or similar type person), or that you have been overtaken by Satan and worship HIM instead. That is the furthest from the truth. I don't have any beliefs in Satan either.

A person doesn't need God in their life to be genuinely honest, helpful, caring, and just be a good person.

The payoff for being genuinely good are immediate and everlasting even without religious faith.

This actually sounds like Greek philosophy before they knew about Christ.

The innate goodness of man.

Having had this discussion with my pastor and others before I will say that there are more than a few folks who attend a church service every sunday who are a little too "Old Testament" for me or for most of the world, and who are more than willing to point all of everyone elses flaws and lapses in judgement with out seeing any issues for themselves. There are also a lot of folks in this world who are genuine good people, but for one or more reasons do not attend church even occasionally. Going to church services for me is not about my faith, it is a way to connect with others who strive to be the best christian they can, and to allow the fellowship, music, and sometimes the sermon recharge my batteries for the coming week. Many times while working emergency deployments etc. I have worked 7 days a week, never feeling like I was sinning for missing regular service. If more regular church goers were to miss a sunday a month and spend it helping their neighbors, friends, strangers etc. honestly I believe it would be a better world. And yes this last year has brought me closer to my faith in a way that easy/good times never could.

For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. (‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭3‬ KJV)

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. (‭Isaiah‬ ‭64‬:‭6‬ KJV)

For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: (‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ KJV)

For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: (‭2 Peter‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ KJV)

It's impossible to be a good man of any sort apart from God. The worlds standards and Gods are completely different. A worldly person can do good things but it ends there. You are either for God or against Him.

Where is the origin of morality?

Its an evolutionary advantage to look out for others of our species. Its Hard wired in our brains to "empathize" for other people. All part of being a social species.

That's why ISIS is so nice, they're hard wired that way.

And please let's not get started with the evil religion argument, plenty of evil people had no religion, and were responsible for about 75-100 million deaths....Hirohito, Mao Tse Tung, Joseph Stalin, to name a few

You are correct. My comment wasnt stating that if you didnt believe in christ, or didnt go to church, then you were a drunk, thief, liar, etc. I was saying, that if you go to church, then get drunk, smoke wacky weed, etc. between sundays, then your no closer to god than those that dont believe.

I love every one of ya... and that's why I can't let this go any further.

Face to face is the way to share faith, philosophy, not on forums. Not on Facebook. It's too impersonal.

If you have something you want to share, post it on a blog and post a link.

It's not that some good will come from this... it's that I believe more harm will and I don't want that.

Pursue personal conversations if you feel led...

Thanks
