"He may not be the manliest dog... but he thinks he can whip anyones butt." They are cute - and manly!! They use to use them to hunt Badgers (which makes them manly)!! And explains the "whip anyones butt" attitude. LOL.

Great photos and Gods, every one of them! Taking a dog fishing is almost always a tradeoff where you have to sacrifice some of your ability to fish exactly how you want and where you want. That being said, a lot of times the same sacrifice is required with human fishing partners. I've caught enough fish in my life

that I'll happily trade a little fishing success for the companionship of my best friend. Joe turned 13

this year and is starting to have problems trekking up and down streams like he used to all day but we do lots of local stuff so he can be back home on his favorite Orvis bed that night. I honestly can't wade a

stream these days and not wish he was there with me...

Meet Chloe,

She don't need no stinking boat. As you can see, she kills deer with reckless abandon.

She must have pulled that deer down by the tail and kept it for proof.

None of the dogs I've ever had would have made good fishing dogs. They would either have been swimming and splashing through every hold of water, stepping on rods, spilling tackle boxes, dumping the canoe, rolling in whatever stinky thing found, or taken off chasing a squirrell, raccoon, deer etc. I have enough problems just preventing myself or my fishing buddies from doing that.
