A PHENOMENAL AFTERNOON makes me wonder . . . How many WHOPPERS can a "WHOPPER PLOPPER" PLOP . . . into your boat:-)

I would own at least a dozen of them if I'd caught 27 pounds on it. Not sure if I've ever heard of a 27-pound topwater sack. Impressive.

I sense a tremendous amount of exaggeration. A real whopper.

I don't think so, it's the antithesis of the Ned rig and it has drawing power. I think it will be a great bait.

I looked at a video . It is basically a buzz bait. I do not see anything wrong with it. It might be easier for me to use than a regular buzz bait. The color means very little to me just light or dark. Whatever my hand fell on. But I am not the least bit interested if they want to charge you 3-4 times more than it's worth. I hate that. I just know there are a good many people on here paying  for a home raising children and on a tight budget. I just hate to see them blow the budget for a lot of the cool you got to have things that are mentioned on here.

I'm with you, Plug. Tournament jersies and Power Poles for fishing Table Rock come to mind. ;)

Don't have a whopper plopper, and didn't want to go get one, but I may have come up with a home-made version that'll work?

I took an old Devil's Horse and removed the rear hook and cut off the rear prop with tin snips.

I then took a Strike King mini buzz bait and attached it to DH with split ring, and then crimped top and bottom wires together behind the split ring to keep BB from sliding down.

Bent the top wire on BB so that it was "in-line" with bait, and then bent bottom wire down to clear the blades.

Had to play around a little with the angles to get it to run right, and I put a heavier hook on front and middle to counter the weighted rear?

Trimmed skirt even with hook bend and it ran pretty true.

The front prop keeps front end stable, but you have to get it going right away to get everything churning.

I'll try to get a picture of the finished product, but it is one crazy-looking deal!

Will give it a try on the water either tomorrow or Friday and let you know if it works?

Whoa there Champ  - I read on Google that ones fishing prowess increases 32.7% while wearing a jersey and possibly up to 44.67% (determined by a double blind study) if your name is on the back. And remember surveys indicate that 7 out of 10 pros recommend PP's on all rigs.

I turned one our of cedar one and put 3 inch propller blade on the back of it. It did make a pretty good bait but mostly with the jerk and pause. It was no where in the class with that wopper stopper. The back joint looks like legs kicking back there. I think it's fine but I am not going to pay $15 bucks or more for one.

I don't mind spending up to $20 on a top water because you don't ever lose them. If they get hung you can simply get them unstuck. I have a few lucky craft sammys that I have had for years. My favorite top water plus is still $6 and my go to.
