I just read a report that BPS is looking into buying Cabela's.  Less competition means tackle warehouse prices look all that much better.

I can't think of too many things that are less likely to happen.  But stranger things have happened I guess.

Like BPS and Johnny Morris buying Ranger? Who saw that coming?

Ok use to know Johnny Morris years ago. He changed and seems anymore it is all about money and wouldn't put this past him. Bass Pro use to be more Fishing, Cabela's more Hunting.

Did some shopping at Bass Pro in Springfield just before Fall and got quality at a fair price. If I can continue to do this I'm Happy.

NEss I am not sure what I am looking at here but I have to assume that it would indicate that this is a possibility.....with JM valued at $4.1 billion he could surely make something happen...maybe he should call our very own Warren Buffett and between the two of them find enough coin in the cushions of their couches to buy Cabela's

Like Ness posted in that pic since 12pm today the Cabela's shares went up 4 bucks. Pretty good jump on a speculative purchase by old Johnny. You can either buy now and if the deal happens it will shoot up again but if the deal does't happen then it will most likely go back down. Who wants to gamble. If you hit you could buy up all the remaining stock of Whopper Ploppers OR if it tanks you will have to sell all your Pre Rap Wiggle Warts so you don't lose your house. Your call!

No doubt that if Johnny Morris thought he could profit by purchasing Cabelas AND could pull it off he would do it.  Just as.much as the Cabelas brothers hated him I am skeptical.  But heck who knows, Abkeenan you are correct about not expecting JM to buy Ranger Boats.  This is why I don't speculate on stocks.
