Hog Wally Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 I've been in the situation many times where it wasn't a matter of cost of a lure but rather the fact that someone had every lure you could imagine to pick from And one of those lures was all that worked. And I didn't have one. That's when I started dumping more and more money into tackle to have more options. I fished Ned rig 30 years ago when I was 13 years old. It's a okay option when the river is right for it. MOsmallies 1

I tie it on for my little girl a lot Here's a tip: cut a craw dad color culprit in half Put it on your choice of jig head. Throw it out. Bounce it. Drag it. Whatever. Is that a Ned ? Maybe I don't really know what a Ned is. Honestly, a few years ago I was fishing with smalliebigs and he explained to me what a Ned was. I was incredulous at the hype it receives. Every poor kid on the river figured that out years ago.
Ham Posted January 20, 2016 Posted January 20, 2016 Soft plastics fished on a jighead has been around for a Long, LONG time. No one is arguing that point. If you were having the success with the Ned Rig that I am, you would not consider it to be an OK option. If you chose not to avail yourself of the generous information shared about the Ned rig, That's on you. dtrs5kprs 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

It's getting a little more exciting for me in my middle aged years I reckon. I will go about anytime someone wants to go I fished with a guy the other day who threw a Ned rig and didn't even know it was such a thing. That's what I was trying to say. I didn't even know what it was until Smallie bigs told me. I just fish like a mad man and try a lot of goofy things That's all.
fishinwrench Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 OMG. Will the controversy over the Ned rig ever end? If I had a bait and technique that was truly outstanding for me, yet hardly anyone else wanted to fish it..... I would be absolutely elated. The Ned fishing gurus just get completely torqued if someone snorts at its alleged effectiveness. They just can't stand it. They DEMAND equal respect for the Ned. Bashing a Ned thread is grounds for an asswhoopin ! Hog Wally 1
Norm M Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 The most important piece of gear is between your ears . Back when I was real young a piece of a Crème worm on a size 6 Aberdeen hook with a split shot right ahead of it caught fish in the crick by the house . I used a green Johnson reel on a fiberglass rod . That same set up would still catch fish but I have come to prefer the more expensive gear I use now . The better gear didn't make me a better fisherman, time on the water and continual learning from as many sources as possible have made he biggest contribution to that . Sometimes I get the urge to go dipping crickets in a creek , If I feel nostalgic enough I use the 12 ft one piece bamboo pole , if not the 12 ft collapseable graphite pole. Neither is better at catching fish than the other but one is more convenient to carry in the car . what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends
Deadstream Posted January 21, 2016 Posted January 21, 2016 White with a red dot Beetle Spin is the best lure ever!!!! If you can only carry 5 lures. Lets hear your picks. You only get 5.
