I actually think you need 2 rods rigged and ready for some techniques and you didn't mention spinnerbaits. Tap the brakes at 20 combos. 30 seems like a lot to take, but I usually have 10 out on deck if Im fishing solo. I used em all too. actually, I did mention spinnerbaits in the list of "10" . . . HOWEVER, I did forget the A-RIG which I had considered seasonal until Bill Babler's terrific post convinced me that it is a "MUST-HAVE" all year . . . so now I have bumped myself up to "11" . . . and this doesn't even include my all-time favorite way to fish . . . TOPWATER (I am addicted to the Whopper Plopper) . . . since topwater is seasonal, it's not included?

If I lived 20 minutes to the ramp I'd probably have about 20 in the boat. When home is 5 hours away that doesn't work for me. Ranger Z22 1

crazy4fishin Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I probably have 20-25 rods in the boat at any given time...not on the deck mind you...I have to have the discipline to only have on deck what I am using at the time (2-4 rods) and put away the ones that I am not using...I have stepped on too many rod guides while landing the 12" "big un" Like Dave - getting to a real fishing spot from around here take some drive time so I want to be prepared...I had to laugh when I wrote that part...like I know how to fish! I would only be able to afford 1 rod . . . it would be 4ft long and have CHARLIE BROWN characters all over it? fisherofmen11 and shark bait 2
176champion Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I been looking at the snoopy rods and reels myself, i think they on sale at Walmart....lol I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
mixermarkb Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Don't underestimate those snoopy rods. Perfect for spooning. The short length keeps the spoon right in the sonor cone, and they have a nice parabolic action to keep fish buttoned up on those treble hooks... Ham 1

Hunter53 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 Well you got me to thinking how many I carry in the boat so I went and laid them out and took a picture. I do have one more NRX that I just bought that is not in the picture as I still need to put a reel on it. Then the wife wants to bring along around 10 of her own. I have another 10 or so rods that I use as pond rods that never get in the bass boat. All rods pictured are G-Loomis............ Champ188 1
Blll Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 It is a scientific law that the # of fishing rods must expand to fill the space available. Bigger boat-more rods. Also the law of accumulation applies. It makes perfect sense to me that the older you are, the more rods you will have. At 60, I have more rods than when I was 40, and fewer than I will have at 80. These scientific laws are in direct contradiction to my wife's question of "how many hands do you have". I look forward to this forum having fishing reports again...soon. fisherofmen11 and mixermarkb 2
