I'm actually with you in a lot of ways, maybe just different ideas on how to get there. American politics used to work that way, when the loyal opposition was in fact assumed to be loyal to the country first. Tells you a lot when a man like O'Malley doesn't even register behind a warmed over hag and a communist. 

As to getting folks to put themselves second, there is only the one sure path, freely available to all.

Went back and deleted a bunch of my posts, sorry if a few posts that were responses to mine don't make sense anymore.  I would really like to see this thread stay going and get back on topic on what specifc rods and reel setups and what techniques you guys are using them for- what can I say, I'm a tackle geek/addict...

Kinda getting back to the original OP - I was watching MLF (love the MLF!) this last week and it hit me that these guys are in the same situation that I find myself in when I go fishing, a couple of those guys had so many rods on the deck that they were stepping on them...while I know the time of year if I have not been on a lake or on a familiar one in a certain time period I find myself having more tools on the deck than normal.  

Which could lead one to spin out if a certain pattern(s) is not working, then next thing you know you break out the magic banjo minnow system that is highlighted at a local BPS end cap to at least get a bite. (for the record I do not nor have ever been in possession of such a bait ) 

The other thing that happens is if I am fishing a body of water that I go to but not on a regular basis like TR I watch the forums....i.e. here....and have bought and bought into some of the baits....can you say whopper plopper!? Yeah I plopped down some green for a couple of those.....

Maybe my wife has it all figured out - when she fishes with me all she wants to use is night crawlers.....

This topic is a much needed relief valve for me.  I am constantly teased about the volume of fishing gear I feel that I need.  I am normally a boat passenger and not captain and I usually bring six rods. I think a guy needs top water, spinners (both inline and traditional), cranks (both lipped and lipless), jigs, plastics, jerk baits, drop shot, and spoons.  I find 6 rods to be a good compromise.  Sometimes it is my two large tackle boxes that are packed to the seams that gets as much head shaking as my number of rods.

I now feel confident in telling my fishing buddies that the forum consensus is that six rods and two big tackle boxes are par for the course. Since I fish, I feel I have license to exaggerate.

IN does depend on the size of the boat. If it is a 14 foot jon boat with a 36 inch bottom, 6 rods is probably a little much. 17 foot and above glass boat, no problem.

At any given time Id say i  only have between 4 and 10 rods with me.  My boat is little, so if im bassin at table rock...my go to set up is a med heavy power fast action casting rod for 3/4oz jigging spoons (st croix avid, with Lews something or other/cabelas prodigy with lews something or other).  Also, ill have a med extra fast spinning rod for the split shot and DS, and another extra fast spinning rod for WTD baits(fenwick aetos, abu veritas, oooollllldddd bps extreme).  I Guess i tend to stick to the techniques im best at, id be confused if i had 20 different rigged rods to choose from.  If im walleye fishin, 2 longline rods (10ft floppy guys with ambassadors) and 2 bottom bouncin rods, (8ft med heavy mod fast casting rods...also ambassadors.)  and the jigging spoon setup.  If crappies are an option than ill have 2 6ft 6 light fast rods for 1/32-1/64 oz jigs (fenwick river runner, fenwick silverhawk)

On the Falcon Rods.

HD's Crappie and Costals are built over seas using exacting material standards.  Each batch is tested in Harrison Ark, before any rod can be created.    The Fuji eyes are also made in Japan.

Falcon's factory is in Harrison Arkansas where all of their signature rods, Original thru Cara thru Bucco, all of them are fully created and assembled.  They are fully forged there on their on Mandels .

I have toured the factory on 3 separate occasions with Phll Lilley.  The Fuji Eyes are the only non manufactured component  on these very upper end rods.
