I was guessing 7-8# too, based on the one Dave's grandson caught last summer. Think that is reasonable, if outlandish.

My Q is, where are the brown fish in that lake? Must be some in the woodshed somewhere. What do they look like?

They are 25" long and have teeth out there......they never make it to the boat for species nor photo verification.  Can you even imagine like a 13lb smallmouth?

Not really, no. You'd think there would be some big brown horses in there.

Nice. I knew the CA spots were the Alabama variety. Still curious about the brown fish. Maybe they haven't developed a palate for kokanee yet.

very nice fish indeed, looking forward to getting back, probably in Feb. I myself think one needs a whole different mindset when his end goal is a trophy, ya someone always gets lucky while fishing but the big ones don't get big by being dumb, whether or not there are any like that in TR, I believe there are, I hope there are, and when I do come back that is going to be the game plan, I don't care how many I catch, I'm just looking for one bite. Been thinking about this for some time and the challenge is on. I personally wish it would get cold and stay that way for a while, cool that water down more and then get a few warm days, Ole big mouth would  be looking for one big bite. I see on the 6th at campbell point the water temp was still 48.6, wish it was colder. It sure is nice to have that access to the water temp.

Seems to be a long way from the water, too. Hope that's not an indication of where it ended up.

well, i do think it went to the taxidermist for a resort.  at least that is the indication that i got.  not mine to do with.

Actually, as taxpayers/license buyers, they belong to all of us. Therefore, we're all entitled to our opinions regarding what becomes of them. That's certainly not to say he can't do with it what he wants.

Like Dave said earlier "I get it" if someone catches a fish of a lifetime and wants to have that exact fish mounted. I don't necessarily condone it but I understand how someone has an attachment to that fish. Every time you look at it on the wall memories will shoot back and take you to that fond moment. That is worth more than anything you paid for the mount. I honestly don't mind someone taking a fish like that and having it forever. The guy that just eats fish of size with regularity is a different story. No sense in that at all. I'll pay for your all you can eat fried fish dinner at Starvin' Marvin's if you just put that fish back in the lake.
