That is right on about the thin margins on the baits....at least the ones that are in the strike zone that most of us play in and that is the $3 - $15 range depending on the type. You would be surprised how much is in the actual bait itself - for example...most bait companies do not make the hooks so they buy from the hook guys who mark their stuff up etc. etc.

And by the time you put it in a pretty box to attract us fisherman you have some $$ tied up, not to mention if it is considered a "Pro" bait. I know the guy that runs a company that makes the wire for most of the spinner baits....more in that little piece of wire than I thought.

Dave is right about the other stuff......especially.....shall I say it....Jerseys! :P

The trend toward "upscale" packaging really drives prices up. Clamshell packaging, blow molded packs, trays to keep baits straight. None of that is as cheap as a good old zip bag. Even quality zip bags eat into things.

Yep, I was actually thinking about just marketing my Craws in an unmarked bag of 50. Either you like it or you don't ? Maybe eBay is the answer.

Make sure you have your CA lead warning on the packaging somewhere.

Really think there is some truth to that. Certainly causes a lot of strife and heartache for many.

Or better yet don't sell to California or any other state with those BS requirements.

I would suggest bags of 15. I hear $10.00 is the going rate.

Or maybe All sales in person. Cash Only and don't say a word about where you got em. First rule about Claw Club. Don't Talk about Claw Club.
