Hey Mitch.

Is the 14 year old you're talking about the angel in your signature picture?   I love that picture, she looks so sweet and happy.

BTW yes, my little one is as sweet and happy as it gets most of the time. But like all kids, she has her drama moments!

Got em snowed don't ya?!

It helps to buy them nice stuff, take them fishing in cool places and never tell them unpleasant things they have to do or fun things they can't do.:)

Years ago George Cochran was talking to a bunch of idealistic wanna be pro fishermen. We were all in our twenties. He was talking about slowing down, analyzing and making every cast count. He talked about being a good fisherman when he was young but being a really good fisherman after learning patience that only parenthood can teach you. Just think how your forced lessons on patience have helped your fishing :D

You got that right Rick!   My 6 year old grandson thinks I'm the best thing going.

Fireworks, BB guns and donuts.

My daughter in-law isn't so enamored with me.

I've always heard that Grand children are God's gift for not killing your own kids.

Sounds like you got your prize!

Hmm,  been patiently waiting for another George Cochran win and it hasn't paid off.

Impatience probably helps build good fishing skills moreso than patience.  Waiting for things to improve on their own is a sure way to skunk.

Yep, I'm thinking the most important decision a pro could make is when to leave an area, and when to stay.

That's the most important question any tournament fisherman has to answer. Sometimes you make the right decision and feel like a fishing god. Other times it reminds you of how stupid you really are. It's not an easy thing and I am glad I no longer need to make those decisions. :)

Man this thread is awesome.  Father of 3 girls here ages 4, 7, and soon to be 11 going on 18... Glad its not just me, but I am trying to enjoy every moment I can with them as I know that they will be gown up soon.  I too now understand why getting smacked in the head with a wooden spoon by mom for rolling my eyes at her was just a way of saying she loved me LOL.

I did luck out and get one that loves to fish.  My oldest is turning out to be quite the fisherman, the middle one is the animal lover who asks me how I'd like it if someone poked a hole in my face and then threw me back in the river when I get home from fishing LOL.  My little tornado I just think man I should tie a bunch of lures on her arms and just let her go jump in the stream.

My oldest last year at kids day at Bennett Springs
