96 CHAMP Posted May 16, 2016 Author Posted May 16, 2016 I watched it off and on last weekend while working outside and all day Sunday as I was finishing, He is a power fishing machine weather you care for the man or not, I had a blast watching it, the competition I thought was great. How would you like to be the runner up thinking the guy has 80 lbs , all I need is 15 more, then to find out he has 90 lbs, It would drive you nuts, knowing you can't catch him. LOL Champ188 1
abkeenan Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I looked at his "on the water pics" from Day 2. He looked to be throwing a 5 or 6XD. Don't believe it was the 10. He picked up a 7lb'er on it and upon landing the fish it slammed a treble into the palm of his hand. He just continued on like no big deal and there are following pics of him culling out fish with it stuck in his hand and then a press/staff boat coming to his aid to remove the treble. Went and found the pics: magicwormman 1

bluebasser86 Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 It was a 10XD, there's a video of him landing that fish and also the hook removal where he says it's a 10XD. That was a big treble in his palm, made me squirm a little when I saw it. Looked like a pretty dumb move to get it there, unhooking the fish and it caught his hand and instead of just removing it before it looked buried, he jerked his hand away and dug it in good. Maybe the excitement of putting that big fish in the boat caused a lapse of judgement. Apparently there were lots of spectators fishing the spot right along with him during the tournament, and also right on top of where he was fishing when he left. I know it's a public lake, but it sounded pretty bad from the reports. abkeenan 1
DADAKOTA Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Sometimes the Pros are fishing the same spot as well. Never really figured out how in some tourneys more than 1 guy is fishing an area or spot and they all get along. While in other tourneys they are barking at each other over whose spot it is. Other than common courtesy there is really no reason for the public to not be able to fish anywhere on the lake whenever they chose. eyedabassman 1

fozzype Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Like it or not, crowds, other fisherman, and pressure are and will always be part of fishing. When I was a kid I tried to keep my favorite pond a secret or it would get fished. In every tourney this is a factor if ignored can cost you. It is part of the game that must be considered or you will lose more than you win. Unfortunately, it is something most out of your control and leaves you guessing. The better pros think about this often as much as actually catching fish. If I have a dynamite bank or area that is known to be that way, I better have a backup plan or I might not be able to fish it. Champ188, mixermarkb and abkeenan 3 B. Foz
