moguy1973, I had that problem at the beginning with the WP but through experimentation I found that if I let the bait hit the water and sit for a second to stabilize, the bait stays on top and works fine.  Not sure if that was the issue but that waiting to settle sure cured the problem for me.

I get a super special uber-deep discount on them, hence the shortage. Chi0082, I could tell you where you're going wrong but putting that knowledge out for public consumption could wipe out the entire bass population in Table Rock. :o:lol:

I don't think there's really a wrong way to fish the wp. I mean it's a rather simple lure to use at almost any speed. I didn't start fishing yesterday nor am I a pro either, but I can hold my own on any given day. I guess I'm just not really impressed by it. Trust me I really wanted to like it, and have fished with it very often on many days hoping it will prove itself as a great lure. But I have found that if fish were hitting the wp, they were hitting any other topwater lure as well. I can catch fish with it the same as I can catch with my other propeller type lures or buzzbaits or spooks or "insert topwater lure here" that also sputter water when retrieved. There just is nothing amazing about it.

Edit: Champ if you have a secret tweak to the lure to make it magical, please PM me. If that's what you meant. lol.

You know Mike, that is a good observation as I experienced the same thing when I first started throwing the WP

Won the Champion Boat Owners tourney last fall throwing the WP right after it became real popular locally. I have been hooked on it ever since. It doesn't work the best in every situation but what bait does? it does seem to catch better fish for me. I throw the 130 mostly. Headed down to Louisiana this next weekend and am looking forward to see how it works down there.

It might be dangerous to throw down there.

My 2 cents on the Plopper is that it will certainly work at times.  I like it when there is some chop on the water, flat glass, I like the walking baits and the wake baits.  With this top water bite going strong, I like to have 3 rods on the deck, one with a walker, one with a waker, and one with a plopper.

I also like to follow up with a different bait, if I'm fishing a stretch of bank where there is TW activity and I pick some up on a bait, they'll seem to get tired of seeing it after a while.  When that happens I'll switch to another TW bait,  Usually they'll let you know what bait they want, could be the plopper, might be something else.  It's good to have choices.  :D

Where did you order them from?

This is strong advice.  I love the WP but we all know the only magic baits are the banjo minnow and the mighty bite.
