joeD Posted June 12, 2016 Posted June 12, 2016 Hit my first hole in one Friday. After years of golf, one does think about it, if for no other reason that one is "due." Missouri Bluffs #2 with a 7 iron, 168 yards. Tradition says the "lucky" golfer buys a round at the bar after. This was a tournament of 60 golfers. Who were thirsty. Including me. Discover card is ecstatic. Wife, less so: "Don't get another hole in one." Still...great experience. Now, if I could only fish... Greasy B, Mitch f, Phil Lilley and 2 others 5

Gavin Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Good for you. Have seen two. And 3-4 that bounced out of the cup. Used to caddy at Sunset CC.
Stein Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Congrats. I've only seen one happen. I took a client golfing and he got one. I met my current wife on that very round of golf. We played through a group of 5 females after that hole in one. Went to the bar afterwards and sat at the table next to the only table bigger than a four topper so we knew where they would end up. He was hitting on my future wife. I was hitting on her friend. LOL. It all worked out in the end! That was 18 years ago.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 13, 2016 Root Admin Posted June 13, 2016 That's a good poke - 168 yards with a 7 iron! Congrats. I have one - a pitch and putt, 125 yards with a wedge. The guy I was playing with wasn't even looking... to this day he thinks I put the ball in the hole. Told him I'd have to have done it before we started playing... it's a fun game - just like fishing. snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Nice Joe. That's a good hole to get one on. I made a hole in one on the same hole that my dad did 25 years prior. We both made it with a 9 iron from 145 yards. I have both newspaper clippings in a nice shadow box my wife made. I've had two and both were in skins games with a couple dozen guys. Cost me big. I also have a double eagle on Par 5. BilletHead and Mr. An-Cap 2
joeD Posted June 14, 2016 Author Posted June 14, 2016 I don't know. Double eagle might be "rarer." Still, not fishing. Talking about golf on a fishing forum. Oy. I suck balls. Good thing it'll be 100 degrees Fathers Day weekend and be,yond.
Mitch f Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 I agree with Phil, 168 is a good poke for a 7 iron, I used to be able to hit a 7 around 160-165 but not anymore. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
joeD Posted June 15, 2016 Author Posted June 15, 2016 I used to poke a 7 for awhile. Have to do it twice now to get 7. 20 seconds of heaven. Lancer09 1
David Unnerstall Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Congratulations, Joe. My hole-in-one dropped into the cup of the green we just played. I hit the ball off the toe of the club, it went right, hit a telephone pole and bounced back in front of us and ended up on the green to our left and into the hole. Greasy B, tho1mas and BilletHead 3
