Took a family member out and tied on a 90 for him yesterday morning.  He caught about 20 on it.  Long gravel points and bluff ends... He had one 4lb LM biggest bass he has even caught so that was fun!

Also broke off both hooks on fish, split rings seperated, you would think on a $12 lure they would have some better hardware

without a doubt, the worst split rings I've ever seen on a lure. At this point, I swap them out before I ever cast a WP.

Sounds like a fun time with the plopper, good job.

likinmo, surprising the KYs were not very deep.  20 ft was the depth of most of my spoon bites.  I saw fish deeper at 30 and even 40 but they were not interested in my flashy metal.  I don't know if that was due to the time of the day ... I fish early and am home by 9 am ... and if they would be deeper later in the day.  Seemed shallow to me but the active fish were definitely not deep at that time (at least for me).

Ham, I broke off a treble too this morning.  Guess I need to replace the rings on the precious WPs I have left.

Such an easy bait to cast and fish.  I use a Lew BB1 with a 6-1/2 ft ML BPS Cranking stick and I can just launch the model 90.  I tried a Sammy for a little while after I broke the split ring this morning and caught two but it just wasn't as much fun.  I think I just like telling people I caught a nice fish on a Whopper Plopper too.  Love the name.

You guys don't get it. Those are the quick-release split rings that purposely prevent you from losing that $17 Plopper in the event you hang it up on a fish that may prove too big and strong for your line. Come on, dudes. Have you no appreciation for technology? :D

I can't imagine that you could find worse split rings than stock on the R2S.

There are worse ones, they come on any BP bait and the RC Stix is the absolute worst.

There a only a couple of Bass Pro hard baits that use. I've never had a problem with their split rings. It might be I cut them off when replacing the hooks. Not a fan of the stock hooks.

I'm not a fan of RC Stix, but in my limited use, I have not had hook/ring issues. The WP ring thing is not one bad batch or bad luck. Those are going to fail. Sooner or later.

Last year on Bull we got into several schools of big whites with some stripers in them.  They just love a jerkbait and for obvious reason we did not care to throw $25 megabass at them.   We used the RC and they simply tore them to pieces most often they would straighten out the split ring on both the hooks and also in the eye of the bait.  I didn't have that many but lost what I had as the line would come back with part of the split ring tied to the knot.  Buster fishes the RC and a knockoff Megabass all the time down there and he said as soon as they come out of the box he replaces the rings and hooks on the RC or you come back with a big nothing when it is attacked by those mean Bull Shoals Whites.
