Think it will stay full with casual floaters, blue hairs, and OOS folks. Prefer a more rustic setting. "Timbuktu" campground? C'mon....no relation to this continent! Why not Camp Zoe or the Schwagstock;)!

Timbuktu? Really? That's embarrassing. How can they pick something that lame With so many interesting place names in the Ozarks?

The info I got didn't include the cost of the whole thing, but it said that since 2009 they have spent $69 million in upgrades to the whole state park system, with another $10 million currently being spent through a bond issuance.  This info is coming from the Conservation Federation.

Not trying to pick fights but aside from the renovated boat ramp at Meramec and a new building in the riding area at St. Joe, I've not noticed any upgrades at the parks we've visited since 2009 which would include Johnson Shut-ins, Meramec, St. Francois, St. Joe, Robertsville, and Washington.  In fact, we'd much rather stay at the COE parks like River Run and Piedmont Park at Clearwater, and Hwy K west of Annapolis.  They are generally cleaner, have better kept facilities and are considerably cheaper.  The only real draw to St. Francois and Washington for us is convenience.

Echo Bluff is a joke.....my family will never stay there.....our family like real camping. I wish some of the seizure money could have been used to help the MDC to do something about all the illegal gigging that is taking place on the middle Meramec between Sand Ford and HWY 30.....it's gonna be a Bass and Walleye slaughter fest this year....clear water for the first time in two Winters and overly anxious giggers out for meat no matter what it is.......a perfect storm is a brewing :(

I hope so.

I can't wait until they gig every freaking one of them and it becomes a river desert.  Then maybe we won't have to hear about it every year. It will finally be done. They must suck at gigging though. Because no matter the amount of new tech toys, in over a 100 years of gigging, they haven't done it yet!

Com'on boys! Make this the year!

I wish the zombie apocalypse, revelation, return of Jesus, Niberu crash, and all that other baloney would hurry up and happen too, cuz I'm even sicker of hearing about that.

At least you only have to suffer through the extinction of smallmouth theory's when you click over to here.  That other stuff you have to wade through everywhere you go.

Don't forget the Otter Massacre and Blue Heron Stabbings of the smallmouth bass.  Those all get blamed on gigging.

That is why I go to Tennessee to catch the biguns, they are a protected species there.  They only gig frogs there.

Or up north like Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin. You can go to these states and literally catch 16-20" , 3-4 lb fish all day long. I would say the fish average 2-2.5 lbs and 16"
