Never liked the Buckeye. There are waaay better options, bwahahahaha!

I have one. Threw it for about 4 casts. Like you said there are just better options. Would be good for a kid or someone new to fishing when the "Red Fin" bite is going. Just throw out and reel in.

I'm just not big on balsa baits to begin with as they don't have modern casting systems (weight transfer), are a soft, easily damaged wood and are double or triple of the price of their plastic counterparts. I know some love balsa for it's buoyancy properties and whatnot, like Bagley's guys. I'm just not into them.

So if someone has been sitting a NIB Buckeye for a few years you made like $5 on your initial investment. Basically, since they were such a savvy investor, they can take their profits and get 2 cans of Vienna Sausage.

I have at least two of the pre-PH models. Let the bidding begin. :D

I bid 25 cents if it includes shipping, or I'll just stick with the wiggle diggle

So when might I choose one over a traditional walking bait?  I use a WTD topwater 90% of the time, just cuz its what i know and have confidence in.  If im in thick weeds or something ill use a weedless walker or walking frog, but are there situations/conditions where a wake bait does better than a WTD bait? Or do you just gotta try em both and see what they like?  Id like to venture outside of my comfort zone by using wake baits, prop baits and various other topwater lures, but i have quite a bit of success with the top dollar, spittin image, and spooks...they just  need a severe hardware upgrade.

yes

I like the wakers in shallow heavy cover, especially wood. (weedless trebles)

"bumping" into the cover during the retrieve will get you  more bites

here's some more info about wakers...
