BilletHead Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Breakfast and Skalkaho creek, Up the next morning and breakfast. Leftover carnita meat with eggs and onions. Rolled up in a tortilla. The ultimate breakfast burrito. Last view from this camp, Check this out boys and girls, Over the Skalkaho pass and down to Skalkaho falls, Then to the creek for more fishing, Really bushy along the banks. Hard to find a place to get to the water but once you do it is game on, We caught some of these and one juvenile bull trout. Mrs. BilletHead had the fish of the day. I was really impressed. Had it netted, in her grip for a photo as I was getting the camera ready it flipped out of her grip and gone. She cried. I bet it was over fifteen inches. So we then drove the rest of the road down to the valley below. As we cleared the trees there was smoke lots of smoke West of Hamilton. Big fire in the Bitterroot National forest. So sad and this was not to be the first fire we would encounter on the trip. As we entered Hamilton I had my driver Wife stop the truck so I could get out and snap the city limits sign. Right away I sent a photo and text to our member Ham to mess with him a bit to see if he could guess where we were. Some back and forth jousting and a few hints he finally got it. Great fun that was . Then it was off on the road again To the North Fork of the Blackfoot,Blackfoot, Grave and Graves Creeks. Ham Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I LOVE your Western trip reports. I'm super Happy for you and the Mrs that you enjoy spending time together fishing/hunting/cooking. I know your dog has been well loved and cared for. I hate that her lifespan is finite and that a Sad ending is coming for her (and all of us). Thanks for the pictures of her none the less. Daryk Campbell Sr Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I also LOVE your "Out West Reports" , just in case you were wondering if anyone reads these. :-) BilletHead 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Johnsfolly Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 See now BH your getting into the nitty gritty with thermometers giving us conditions, action travel and sneaky wading shots, fishing regulations, and more actual fish reporting and photos. Plus a jousting reference. Can't wait for the next installment. Oh by the way the BSP is only 6 miles from my house. So I may be able to drive my hover round power chair to the store for work. By then they may have the Whopper Plopper 36 with 36 rotating blades and fins and a spot for your bait cloud fizzy balls all for just $369.95 guaranteed to catch fish (if you actually put one on one of the hooks yourself). I should get a good employee discount and shouldn't have to finance one of these lures. BilletHead 1
jdmidwest Posted August 18, 2016 Posted August 18, 2016 Hmm. At 28 degrees, that shirt I sweated thru this afternoon would have froze stiff. Of course, that high up, I doubt they had the 9 inches of rain this week and the 200 percent humidity soup here. Looks like a good road trip. Bring me back a snowball.
