shrapnel Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Anyone use it? Tried the 14lb for jerkbaits this weekend and liked it except for the fact that twice now the brand new line has broke about 25' up from the lure on a cast and sent the lure flying and left me with a nasty backlash. I'm certainly done with this spool but nervous to try more will probably bite the bullet and go with InvisX anyone else had issues?
Seth Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I've used the 17# on a jig rod and didn't have any issues. I've started using Seaguar Invizx and Red Label this year though due to it having a little less memory.
Nitroman Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Continue to use it & that is what your lures are going to do " VANISH " !!!!!!! IMO lots of better choices out there. Ham 1 Rock View Resort Table Rock Lake Greg Pope, Owner/Operator & Fishing Guide
fishinwrench Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I got a "bad spool" of 8# Vanish years ago. The stuff broke like it was 4#. I'm not gambling on another spool of it.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I used 8-14 and had horrible luck with it, Broke a lot of fish off for no apparent reason. There is a reason it is the cheapest flouro out there
snagged in outlet 3 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I've used it in 4, 6 and 10 pound for years with no issue. I guess I got lucky. What do you guys suggest as a replacement?
DADAKOTA Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I used to use vanish but it breaks too easily, then went to the Cabelas brand for a long time and really liked it. Using a stop above a sinker and bead just shredded it. Switched over to AbrazX and have never looked back. Tough, durable, smaller diameter, and little memory. From 10# to 25# that is what I use along with Trilene XT for my topwaters. Been buying the 1000 yard spools to save money. If you keep an eye out the bulk spools go on sale every so often. Surprisingly Walmart.com carries the bulk spools and are usually one of the cheapest. Keep your line in a cool dark place and it lasts a long time with no issues.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I really like P Line. Strong and doesnt break the bank dan hufferd and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
97procraft Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 I talked with Hank Parker over this summer about line and he said that he hates Vanish because it will break for no reason. It will work great at times and then break without any abrasion. He only uses Trilene 100% Floro, both products are made by Berkley and he is sponsored by Berkley, so take that for what it is worth. Like Nitroman said, there are a lot of other choices out there. Ham 1
LarrySTL Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 I bought one spool of Vanish once, 10 lb. It seemed stiffer on the reel and casting than most line and yes, it broke several times for no reason at all. I had recently bought it from BPS mail order so I assume it was fresh. I took it off the reel after that one day and haven't tried it again. IMO it was really bad. http://intervenehere.com
