Cheesemaster whacked 'em up the James on Friday, too. Would've been a great day to be out. Glad you guys were there to enjoy it. When the Fann boys, Snowden and the rest of that Winter Series crew can only manage a best sack of 13 pounds, pretty obvious that Saturday was not the same kind of day. I also think fish are more susceptible to shutting down after the first few fronts of the season. Later in the season, seems they aren't as affected by them. Of course, that could be because we are generally fishing deeper later in the winter. If I've learned anything from my life-without-parole sentence as a river rat, it's that shallow fish are far more affected by weather changes than deep ones. That's why good shallow fishermen are also capable of backing out and salvaging the day with some deeper fish. And one more thing about cold fronts ... the day after isn't always terrible, even under bluebird skies. The fish will still bite --- and sometimes very well --- as long as you still have a N-NW wind. It's usually the second day after a front ... when the wind goes dead or swings around to the E-NE, that things really get boot-leather tough. magicwormman 1
crazy4fishin Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 I fished from late Wed to Sat mostly on the north side from the Chalet (what ever the name of that cove is) to Indian Point and the fishing was fair....caught a few on the rock crawler, Ned and then Saturday...which was foggier that I have ever seen it on the lake!....I went back tot eh same area and ZERO!!! so I thought WWBBD and I tied a spoon on....yes it was a Dixie Jet 1/2 oz in silver! and went dock to dock casting in the back and letting it drift back to me....they normally hit when the spoon was at the front of the dock....30' FOW and caught these guys in the Chalet docks!! What was crazy is that when I caught one the school was following it!! And I didn't even have my jersey nor my buff on! But I did have my 100 MPH stuff on so I am sure that is what attracted them!! Caught many sub keepers in between....never really counted the total but it was fun. merc1997 Bo, abkeenan, Donna G and 8 others 11 Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker
Champ188 Posted November 29, 2016 Author Posted November 29, 2016 Nice job of figuring them out! Dock bite was about all we could get going, too. I had a couple of Jets in the boat but never tied one on. I did flip a 7/8 white War Eagle spoon for a little bit but it was killing my "tennis elbow" so I didn't stick with it very long. BTW, the Chalet docks are strongly off limits. I know this because one of their summertime soldiers came out a couple of years back and told me I couldn't fish there. I'm kinda hard of hearing, though, when those types are yelling at me. Something about the wind direction that day, I think. All I know is he seemed to want me to leave. I'm sure they got you on video surveillance so I'd be keeping a close eye on the mailbox. You'll probably be receiving some correspondence soon from the authorities. magicwormman, Daryk Campbell Sr, Smalls21 and 2 others 5
Members BearFisher10 Posted November 29, 2016 Members Posted November 29, 2016 Glad to see you guys have been having some success. I've only been able to get out there twice in the last month and both times were far from spectacular. Had a little excitement here and there which resulted in slowing way down and finessing them on secondaries in order to get something going. Can't wait to get out next and feel like I've got a fighting chance throwing some moving baits.
Champ188 Posted November 29, 2016 Author Posted November 29, 2016 Wart and stick bait bite have to start soon. Don't they? Sore Thumbs and magicwormman 2
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Board member Ketchup and i fished out of aunts creek Saturday. Launched at 7 Couldn't even get the on plane till a little after 11 due to the fog. We ended up with 4 keepers and 6-8 shorts. It was tough. Ned, rock crawler, and one on top water that ketchup caught in the first 5 casts. magicwormman and Champ188 2

The material that they use seems like it might get kind of hot - like wrapping a plastic bag around your head! If not, I might just look into getting one. Of course, one other drawback is it would DEFINITELY mess up my hair - all 18 of em'! Well, 18 as of last count anyway.
